I was looking at the A-5 system, and the 14", 16", and 20" barrels. Which barrel would be the best? Could i easily change the longer barrels for a shorter barrel while i'm on the field playing?

14" is the best. 16 isnt bad, but its an extra 2 inches which isnt necessary and uses slightly more propellant. stay away from 20 inchers. there no good

I just got an A-5.....Is it true that a longer barral improves accuracy by 150ft??

You could, but it is a bad idea and most fields will not allow it. Changing the barrel on the field can alter velocity without anyway to ensure the new velocity is within prescribed safety limits. |

I have heard that a longer barrel slows down the velocity but idk so if you start of with the 14" you should be fine

Not necessarily true. A longer barrel will generally reduce the velocity of the paintball compared to a shorter barrel of the same make and model, but there are situations where this is not true. For instance, a very short barrel (such as the 8" Lapco Bigshot) may actually fire slower than a longer version of the same barrel because the additional length allows time for additional propellant expansion to accelerate the paintball. Furthermore, once different types of barrels are considered, the bore size and surface characteristics must be considered as well. Velocity can be a factor of the interactions of all three characteristics and as such no general rule can be stated. The only way to know for sure would be to test the velocity difference between the specific barrels on the specific marker being used. Even then, many commercial fields would probably still not allow such switching to occur during games because of potential liability issues.
