Yeah, I know just what we need is another Obama bashing thread, but really?

Just opened CNN 5 minutes ago and thought the exact same thing. Seems a little premature to me.

Well that's quite unexpected.

Don't blame me, I voted for Kodos.

That's my general thought. Is it a terrible decision? Not really, but why give this award to him less than a year into his presidency?

Hmm. Yeah my thoughts on the matter go something like, ".....Really?"

Oh well. Congrats, Mr. Obama.

Rumor has it, they are going to start awarding the Heisman trophy in early October starting next year.

Eh? Hasn't every president "called for peace" in the Middle East?

Oh well, I guess pucker up, everybody else is doing it...

He was nominated exactly 12 days after starting his job as President... Which was his first leadership role in his life...

Hear that huge sucking sound?... Yeah, that would be the nobel peace prizes credibililty. First Algore's climate change was awarded and now this.

Everyone was saying he was desperate for a win... guess this qualifies in his mind. While the rest of us just laugh at him... I wonder how many more troops he will send to afghanistan now...

Yeah, I'm sure the Nobel Peace Prize is down the tubes because of this.

(Seriously, can we get a dodgy smiley?  It's just getting ridiculous how often I need it.)

I don't think it was exactly warranted, but I they seem  to think that giving it will ensure Obama continues to broker peace deals.  That might somewhat idealistic of them, but hey, I'm not handing out Nobels.

See, I could actually write that off as a safety nomination just to have his name on the list in case he actually accomplished something, but actually winning after the lack of results is just butt smooching at it's best.

Hasn't done anything? The guy won a noble prize. In my book, that's something.

It's silly and premature. I'll say again-a million politicians have attempted brokering peace deals. It's only Nobel worthy if you succeed, or at least make some headway.

I'd definately FE is right on this one-it's a black eye on the credibility (if it has any left really) of the Peace Prize. Hell, even Al Gore did something. Even if I think he was misguided, he worked and tried to make a difference of some kind, though I don't think it was Peace Prize worthy. But this is ridiculous.

Matt Lauer summed it up best this morning on today.

"he wins this award for not being George W. Bush."

So Reagan actually tearing down the wall is ignored... But, The patron saint Obama stumbling over the swearing in, that with a bunch of broken campaign promises is prize worthy...

Someone tell the swedes they just ruined Mother Teresa's award...

Roberts screwed up the inauguration.

Also, Mother Teresa sucked.

Try less than 12 days into his presidency as that was how long he was in office before nominations were closed.
