Hey guys/gals,

Sorry for the long post ahead.

I had been wanting an A5 (new or used) for a while but a sale didn't work out yesterday when I went to check it out. I went to the store and instead of getting the A5, i got a new X7. It was a lot more $ than what I was hoping to spend. Thinking about it now I'm not sure if I want to keep it or trade it for a new A5 and use the difference to customize it.

I like that the A5 seems to be more customizable than the X7 is. The A5 is slimmer, while the X7 comes with a shroud already, causing it to be bulkier. Should I get the A5 so I can add whatever shroud I want or don't want, leaving the option of using it slimmed down? What can convince me to keep the X7?

I would get a HE egrip for the A5 as soon as i get it too, so it would have that in common with the X7.

What do you guys think?

The A5 will always have that MP5ish look to it, unless you really mod the crap out of it (hacking and milling). The X7 is 320941 times more customizable  then an A5. Its extremely easy to make a G36/M4/M16/AK out of an X7, and if youre crafty the sky is the limit (i have seen NICE G3s).

Hmm I guess it's all down to what look I want and budget. Would you say the X7 mods are directed more towards a big assault rifle look rather than a small mp5 style?

Keep the x7 if you alredy have it.  the x7 is made to be tricked out with a light feel to it still. but if the x7 is new, take it back if you really want a a-5, and use the extra $ you spent on the x7 to buy a top of line a5.
but keep the x7 IMO

^ I think I just might do that or even better, get the Phenom. It's going to be around the same price as the x7, only a little bit more. I would be missing out on the $50 rebate for the x7 though... hmmmmmm. decisions decisions....

get the phenom, enjoy the out of the box features and save some bank for whatever mods you like. there are tons of options for modding the phenom. get on the tippman site and scroll through the mods pages and see what you like or check out other sites for more mods.

Yeah I'm noticing there's a bit of stuff out there. I'm glad it's compatible with a lot of the x7 mods too. I think i'm going the phenom route. Thanks.

In my opinion you should get the Phenom then send it to me in return for my triple digit serial numbered stock A5.  That way you would end up with a marker that is proven to work having withstood the test of time.
