Ok i want a mil-sim gun and I don't have the money to customize a gun.  I think I want a project salvo but my friend thinks I need to get this used 98 custom it is a little banged up but shoots fine and i would get a mask a hopper and a 16oz tank and i know the guy who is selling it and he is very honest and i will get all this for $90 bucks but i think 98s looks kinda dorky but i really want a salvo combo and I read the review below so i think the salvo is a better buy my limit is $200 and a spyder victor is eglible.  Please help me!
too cool for you

I love the Alpha Black, even more than the Sierra/Salvo.

Great looking out of the box milsim marker.

The Salvo is a pretty sweet scenario marker, I personally liked it more than the AlphaBlack, not for realism, but for customization. Just go with your gut, if you think on it too much you'll never decide.

Until I got my Phenom, my alpha black was my primary marker. I LOVE it.

The Salvo too is an excellent marker. If I were you, I'd go with the new marker for just a little more, rather than the used 98. If you're looking for a milsim or scenario marker, than your best bet is go for the newer marker, the salvo or the Alpha Black. My vote would be for the Salvo, because later on down the line when you CAN afford to upgrade or customize, the Salvo offers more options than the Alpha black.

Under no circumstances do you go for the spyder.

I completely agree. Especially not the Victor

The US Army line are just Tippmann 98's underneath the stocks, mags, etc.

That I don't know...I've never messed with the Q-loader.

I did find this though, after a quick search:

http://www.qloader.com/salvokit.html

So I guess it doesn't work with the stock setup. However, if you're looking for an aftermarket loading system, why not upgrade to the cyclone?

There really isnt a "stock" Q loader. The Q loader consists of the pods/loaders etc and they make specific conversions for most popular markers. If you are handy, you can usually do some ghetto engineering and rig some sort of connection to the feedneck as well. My brother didn't want to buy the SP1 conversion, so he ended up using some plastic plumbing elbow he bought at Lowes and black hockey tape. Works like a champ.

With that said, I wouldn't suggest a Q loader for new players. There is a learning curve on the Q system and it may be a bit much for beginners. It took my brother a couple of days of play to get his dialed in and he got pretty frustrated in the process. Eventually he got used to it and loves it now. I personally never got into them though.

As Reb said, consider a Cyclone or even an electronic feeder such as a VL Revolution, Halo, etc. One major plus to electronic feeders is they can be used on other non-Tippmann markers. Cyclones are pretty Tippmann specific, and really can't be used on other types of markers without modification.

I would also like to add that I would not buy a used mask at your stage. Save some money and invest in a decent mask with a thermal lense. VForce and Proto make some relatively reasonably priced masks. Fogging is no fun, and you can't mark them if you can't see them.

Good Luck.

The should all have lids that snap shut for secure playing. Perhaps the one you had was old and worn out.
