Well, which would be a better side arm? I found on the pepperball site that you can get the tiberius pistol with pepperballs for like 100.00.

Anyone have a Tiberius? I did get the Tippmann pistol, and wasn't too impressed. Granted I only shot like 4 mags through the Tippmann but had a few balls break. Cleaning the Tippmann wasn't too much fun. But it was better than the old PT xtreme....lol

I recommend not getting the one from the Pepperball site. There are threads related to it on both Spec Ops and PBN forums. (The PBN forum contains a posting from Tiberius Arms owner.)

The upshot is that these markers are not suitable for paintball. The frame is stamped "not recreational" and they lack the overpressure venting of the paintball version. (Which can lead to seriously excessive velocity spikes.) People who have purchased them are finding them to be disallowed for field play and are having trouble getting them to chrono at safe velocities.

If I can find one of the threads again I will link it. (Hopefully, since this is a safety issue, the mods won't mind a link to another forum.)

This is the thread from Spec Ops regarding this issue. It also contains a link to a discussion on MCarterBrown about these pistols. (I may have not remembered correctly where I saw the other discussion.)

Now that the safety information is out of the way I'll address the original question of Tib vs TPX. (Yeah, I double posted; I thought the safety stuff needed to be on its own . . . so get over it.)

I have both but have not really put enough paint through the TPX yet to justify a position on certain aspects of its performance. Thus I will limit myself to what I feel comfortable discussing.

Tiberius

Good

Shot good--very accurate considering it is a pistol
Efficient--3 + mags off a 12 gram under normal conditions (can reload a mag 3 times before changing CO2 in it)

Trigger pull seemed overly long/odd feeling
Heavy--not in hand so much as in holster; kept feeling the need to pull my pants up
Grip frame a little large for my comfort (could be related to a shooting hand injury I suffered years ago)
Hssss when changing mags screams "come shoot me now please"

TPX

Good

Light weight
Easier CO2 change (tool-less is an advantage, at least compared to the older Tib mags)
Comfortable grip frame

Less efficient than the Tib (I would switch 12 grams after two mags)
CO2 is difficult to change if not completely empty (which means I need to shoot a few "blanks" to do my change after just two mags)

Other (stuff I'm still undecided, didn't experience or have only seen reported)

Accuracy seems iffy, but I have been testing with last years remaining paint
Lots of reports of chopping--supposedly related to the fact that the mags are hard on softer shelled paint, but there are also reports Tippmann has dealt with chopping issues by using a stronger main spring and that users have found loading only seven takes care of this issue as well
Puncture issues with certain 12 grams have also been reported, but Tippmann now has an adjustment on the puncture cap that should take care of that

Overall opinion: If you want a backup, get the TPX; if you're looking for a primary go with the Tib.

I'm really tempted to get a tiberius, I shot a tpx last weekend and it's alot lighter than I thought, and cheaper.

I have taken some time to look through some of the posts on the other sites. A lot of people are stating that there is only a spring and valve differance in the T8 and SA-8. alot of people are not having any problems with the SA-8. I'm sure that I'm not the only one that has or will do this...But I'll try giving Tib. A call sometime.

Urgent Safety Warnings/Info regarding "SA-8"

It has come to our attention that Pepperball Technologies has released for sale to the public the SA-8 pistol which our company, Tiberius Arms manufactured for them based on their specifications. In the interest of public safety and customer satisfaction we felt it important to provide the general public with additional information about this product. First, it is important to understand that this product was never intended for any recreational activity and was not designed to fire .68 paintballs. This product was produced and sold only for use as a less than lethal weapon. It is also important to note that while this weapon appears similar to our Tiberius 8 (aka. T8, Tac 8, Tag 8) paintball pistol, internally there are numerous differences which makes their use in painball dangerous. Yeah, I called and soke with Mr. Bratten. Bratten stated that like in the warning issued that there are all kinds of parts that were not designed for paintball use. Tib. are not looking ar making any conversion kits or anything on those lines for the SA-8. I was told that there is a list of locations where that $100.00 gift card would be worth anything on the mcarterbrown site.
