the word "sniper" in paintball should be used lightly, but the only way to improve the accuracy is to get a longer barrel

^^^ Incorrect. While ultra-short barrels will have a negative effect on accuracy, once you go beyond 10-12 inches of barrel length (depending upon the marker) anything additional really doesn't increase consistency. Using good paint, storing it properly and a good paint to barrel match are much more important.

Mack, that doesn't make any sense. I shoot further with my 25" sniper barrel and my scope.

A tube is a tube is a tube. I've noticed a quality single-bore barrel will shoot just as good as a kit. What the adjustable bore WILL affect, however, is efficiency. If your paint is tight in the bore, it takes less gas to get it to speed. If the bore is loose, gas can escape past the ball. That said, a cheap single-bore barrel (like a stock barrel) will shoot like doodie. For example, the Tippmann 98's stock barrel. You can look down and see the texture in the bore...
Anyway, the quality does affect how it shoots. A lot of people say J&J Ceramics are good because they have a smooth, polished ceramic coating inside the barrel. This lets you shoot out paint if you chop a ball. It won't be as good as squeegeeing the barrel, but it will suffice. Also, the do shoot quite smoothly. I honestly prefer a single bore to a kit though. The less changes in diameter the paint has to shoot through, the better to me. I tend to underbore (find a good bore/paint match, and get a barrel a few sizes smaller than that), so I can use a single barrel as my catch-all. Thing is, it's quite hard to find a very small bored barrel for today's goofy small paint... Length really doesn't affect much. Edited by Magoo - 07 July 2010 at 4:58pm |

I'm with Magoo on the single-bore thing. While I think it is easier to get a good paint-to-barrel match with a barrel kit I have always believed that the difference it makes is probably not worth the expense to the average recreational player.
While I do use an Angle 4-piece kit on one marker and various forms of the Freak on three others, the main reason for this is all of these markers (an Autococker and three pumps) do not have ball detents and the barrel kits allow me to avoid roll-out.) |

I'd get a 12-14 inch J&J Ceramic.
