So I am a huge fan of the apex barrel. And I play in the cold...

cold weather is hard on paint. and also on the little rubber tip on an apex barrel. I have a couple that are all chewed up, and sitting in my drawer.

But, I got to thinking.

What if I used silicone to mold the tip to match my paint more accurately? Right now it is just a ramp.

But, paint is round, if you tapered it from large to the size of the paintball with a ridge to "center" the ball, while adding the spin... would it work?

I would assume I need to put the silicone all the way around to the bottom to keep it from peeling up. But it seems like it would work...

Any ideas?

My next thing I want to do is to sound dampen my a-5... Anyone ever done that?
They tremble at my name...

I think it would be easier to mold a new tip than add the silicon to the existing one.

There is really no way to sound dampen a marker. You can make a rain cover(illegal) and silence the sear spring(some RT sear springs have an irritating ring to them).

Back in my newbie days, I made a raincover. I had a 20oz plastic snapple bottle, and hotglued the lid to my barrel(taped the barrel first). I cut a hole in the bottom of the bottle, and filled it with foam. When I realized that didnt do anything, taping foam over the porting helped alot. It looked horrible, but worked. I would never do it again because it was worthless(although my marker was scary silent), illegal, and looked stupid.

if you want a quiet Tippmann get a phenom. There really isnt much you can do to Dampen the sound on Blowbacks. I know who had Neoprene gun Socks that they would use to shoot.

I just did the Apex O-ring mod where you put O rings on the channels where the Apex's Barrel locks it in place but allows it to spin. Im not sure how well it's going to hold up. But I'll find out after the Scenario I'm playing on the 22nd.

hmm.

I was considering getting the tech-t zero kick hammer, as I figured that would decrease noise to a degree...

Is the phenom reliable in the cold? Many of my games are below freezing... And we play with Co2...
