I have a 1st Gen A5. I bought the gun 2nd hand.
I cannot get the FPS over 230 on the stock spring. I replaced all the 0-rings. I have 4 other A5's 2nd gen as well - I swapped out the power tube and the same result.. My HPA tanks are ok as they work in my other guns fine. I didn't swap the cocking spring for the bolt spring - I took another spring from an a5 and swapped it I replaced all the seals swapped power tube..swapped bolt swapped rear plugs where the stock goes swapped the trigger and air lines.. So this leaves the left and right case? there could be a crack in it but I don't see one. I dont see any warps. My velocity screw is in and out all the way. Perhaps I missed something? Any ideas? Thanks |

It also leaves the possibility that someone added a heavier spring to the valve.
As a side note, once the velocity screw is turned out more than 4-5 complete turns from all the way in it no longer increases velocity. Edited by Mack - 25 July 2011 at 10:27am |

Ok so I figured out what the problem is.
I noticed on the valve that there are only 2 channels for the air to flow. The power tube I swapped out before only had 2 channels as well. I used C02 with that gun. The gun with the LOW FPS I am using HPA. So I took a power tube from my other A5 that has 4 channels in the valve. I hooked up the HPA and I am getting 300+ FPS. So I am going to assume that most guns at the time used CO2 so the 2 channels were fine. However with HPA it works different Compressed Air and GAS. The current valves all have 4 channels. Which also makes sense when I was using C02 in a 98 and one day we ran our so I had to use HPA and the FPS was Way low. So now what? I have to buy new vavles? |
