Mission Impossible 2012:
The Hunt for Osama bin Laden

All throughout the 230 plus years that the United States of America has been in existence, she has gone through many challenges in which has shown her resiliency and rise to become the world's number one Superpower.  With that title, comes a price.  The United States will always have enemies, jealous of who she is and what she stands for.

After a long Cold War with Communism that resulted in the United States coming out on top, a new entity has come out of the shadows to challenge and test the might, resolve and way of life that the United States represents.  That entity has followed a religion that is ages old and twisted it to their own crusade against the way of life that the United States and her allies represent.

They want to show that they are not a group to be taken lightly and have gone to great lengths to show that even the great and powerful United States is not so powerful after all:

On 7 August, 1998, four United States Embassies, all of which were located in African countries, were simultaneously bombed.  Hundreds killed and thousands wounded in that attack.

On 12 October, 2000, the USS Cole, while refueling at a port in Yemen, was attacked by a suicide bomber.  Seventeen US sailors died and thirty-nine were wounded in that attack.

On 11 September, 2001, two airplanes crashed into the twin towers of the World Trade Center, and one crashed into the Pentagon.  2,996 people died in that attack.

All of these attacks were done by the terrorist organization, al-Qaeda, led by Osama bin Laden.

The 2012 Mission: Impossible series will look at the Hunt for bin Laden, over the course of 3 campaigns that will take place in Afghanistan, Iraq and finally in Pakistan.  However, the final endgame may or may not match what happened in real life: will bin Laden finally meet his maker via SEAL Team 6 or will he escape and continue to terrorize citizens of  the United States and her allies?

Come join Giant Paintball and BSP Sports at Hollywood Sports Park for the 2012 Mission:Impossible: The Hunt for Osama bin Laden.  Although we know the reality of what happened, there is a question of what if ... ?

Event 1: Afghanistan Campaign - Operation Enduring Freedom

Event 2: Iraq Campaign - Operation Iraqi Freedom

Event 3: Pakistan Campaign - Operation Neptune Spear
This event will be an "overnight" game in which players will be playing from dusk into the night.
Night Game: Raid on Osama’s compound, but will bin Laden escape this time?

With their valiant efforts, the Coalition has overcome adversity and is on the brink of defeating the terrorists organization and loosening their and grip in Afghanistan. However, bin Laden, as a last ditch effort, ordered an all out suicide attack to cover his escape. When the dust settled, Mohammed Atef was found dead and the following email was found...

From: Saddam.Hussein@Baghdad.aol.com
To: Osama.Bin.Laden@hotmail.com

Great Friend Bin Laden,

All have been arranged for your arrival. We share a common enemy from the West. The Great Infidel, the United States of America. Emperor Bush and his minions the United Nations and NATO will be hunting high and low in the mountains of Afghanistan for you, while you are in the lap of luxury here in my humble castle. No expense has been spared, I have even managed to get a few episodes of “Baywatch” from Germany so that we can discuss the evils of the West that is Pamela Anderson in private. All that I ask is that in your travels help me transfer some of my gold to Pakistan.

We will discuss more when you arrive. We will feast and be entertained; my finest goat will be ready for your arrival.

Your humble BFF
Saddam

Congrats to Shaun "KamiKaze" Kimura and his Coalition in winning Mission: Impossible Event #1. It was a hard fought see-saw battle throughout the whole day, but the Coalition pulled out a victory by 24 points!

Thanks to all that have come out and played in this event (Killer Rabbits and Mostly Bawls (the purple team), special thanks to KamiKaze and Ed along with his Ronin group, Toklas for taking video, the reffing staff and most of all Giant Sportz!

The next event will be on Sunday, Aug 5 at Hollywood Sports Park.  Stay tuned for the next storyline....

Mission: Impossible Event #2
Operation Iraqi Freedom:

The Storyline:
Shortly after September 11, 2001 (on September 20), U.S. President George W. Bush addressed a joint session of Congress (simulcasted live to the world), and announced his new "War on Terrorism". This announcement was accompanied by the doctrine of "pre-emptive" military action, later termed the Bush Doctrine. Allegations of a connection between Saddam Hussein and al-Qaeda were made by some U.S. Government officials who asserted that a highly secretive relationship existed between Saddam and the radical Islamist militant organization al-Qaeda from 1992 to 2003.

The 2003 invasion of Iraq, was the start of the conflict known as the Iraq War, or Operation Iraqi Freedom, in which a combined force of troops from the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia and Poland invaded Iraq and toppled the regime of Saddam Hussein in 21 days of major combat operations.  According to U.S. President George W. Bush and British Prime Minister Tony Blair, the coalition mission was "to disarm Iraq of weapons of mass destruction, to end Saddam Hussein's support for terrorism, and to free the Iraqi people."

The last time the Coalition and Terrorists have met in battle, bin Laden escaped, leaving his Lieutenant to the “wolves”.  However, bin Laden has found refuge in Iraq with the country’s dictator, Saddam Hussein.  There bin Laden is secretly working with Hussein to plan the next terrorist act, but Coalition Intelligence reports have located him in Iraq and are making quick plans to invade and capture or kill bin Laden.  Hearing about the news of the invasion, Saddam Hussein sends Ali babah al-Tikitiki, to stop the Coalition.

Will you join the Coalition to stop bin Laden and his reign of terror or will you join Saddam Hussein to stop the Coalition and protect bin Laden.

Leading the Coalition:
Major. Gen Raymond Gunn, Commanding Officers 1st Marine Recon
(played by Shaun “KamiKaze” Kimura)

Leading the Terrorists:
Ali babah al-Tikitiki, Iraqi Defense Minister, Interior Minister, military commander and chief of the Iraqi Intelligence Service. (played by Ed “Ronin” Sampilo)

Event 3: Pakistan Campaign - Operation Neptune Spear

Although, the Coalition lost the initial battle in the opening moments of Operation Iraqi Freedom, Osama bin Laden knew deep down that in a matter of time, the regime of Saddam Hussein will fall under the combined might of the Coalition. With the prospect of yet another regime falling and the possibility of being cut off from safety, bin Laden sets out to find another safe haven to continue his plans of attack on the "Infidel Western Civilization." After many years of traveling the unpaved roads of the Middle East, he has finally come to the city of Abottabad, located in Pakistan, where he takes up residence in the most secured compound ever seen. This residence is, in a sense, cut off from the outside world with no landline telephone and internet going in and out. bin Laden only way to communicate to the rest of his Terrorist organization is by the use of a lone carrier and flash drives carrying instructions.

After the fall of Saddam Hussein's regime in Iraq, the Coalition intelligence renewed their efforts into locating bin Laden. They checked every lead, but continuously ending up at a dead end. But they got a break through an informant in the Terrorist camp. That informant informed the Coalition that bin Laden has been secretly hiding out somewhere in Pakistan and only a courier knew where he is. Through more investigations and interrogations, the have located the courier and have tracked him to bin Laden's mansion in Abottabad. With confirmation, the Coalition have started making plans in storming the mansion to capture or kill bin Laden.

Typically, a more reserved bin Laden would be more secure wherever he is because of his men that surround him. However, as of late, either by old age or just consistently on the run all the time, his paranoia has overtaken his sense of well being and has ordered more men and arms to the compound he is staying and tells his men to keep a vigilant watch at all times. Incredibly, his paranoia comes true and he is ready one night in May, when he hears helicopters closing in from the distance ...

On Sat, Nov 24, the game will start in the evening with Sunday will be regular scheduled missions. When we get more info in regards to at "schedule" for Sat night, this will get updated.

Ok folks here's the update on the weekend play.  For Sat, Nov 24, there will be a limited time night game Sunday being regular scheduled missions. When we get more info in regards to at "schedule" for Sat night, this will get updated.

Also, there might be a change in pricing for entry, stay tuned

However, this is a Field Paint Only event with paint prices starting at $35 a case

Camping space will NOT be available Sat night.
Prizes and Raffle drawing at the event!

11/11/12:
Typically we do not give out the missions in advance. However, since it is a night game, we felt for the safety of the players and to get things going on the field, we are posting up the night mission only! As the time gets closer to the event date, there may be alterations to the mission parameters.

Saturday, Nov 24 Night Game:
Markers will be chronoed at 240 fps or lower.
All hits count! (Bounces, breaks, on your equipment, on your marker, etc).
Flashlights are allowed. ABSOLUTELY NO STROBE LIGHTS OF ANY KIND BY THE PLAYERS!
If you have night vision, you may use them.
Players will not be allowed to wear chemlights.
No grenades or rocket launchers.
Surrender rule is in effect.
Any physical confrontation of any kind will result in immediate expulsion from the game and from the park with no refunds, with all parties involved! NO EXCEPTIONS!

Terrorists Objective:
Terrorist will be given at least 30 minutes to set up “booby traps” on the field. (prep time can change at game time)
*“Booby traps” must be approved by game producers and field management
*Terrorist will start with all 4 fields with flags in each field already on their color by a chemstick. (representing ownership)
*The Terrorists main objective is to protect their territories.
*The Terrorists secondary objective is to protect their “Runner” and his “Case”

The Runner’s objective:
*The Runner will start at the central hub that is in the middle of all four fields and will have a ref with him/her at all times.
*The ref at the center hub will give the Runner a list in which that Runner will have to go to the flag stations in order. (For example, the Runner must go to Apocalypse, Forbidden City, Lunar Wars then Mad Max.)
*The ref at each flag station will sign off on the list, as long as it is in the correct order. If the runner goes out of order, that ref will not sign it.
*When all 4 flag stations have been signed off, in order, the runner must return to the central hub for that list to be turned in and to get another list.
*Correctly, completed sequences are the only way that the Terrorists will earn points.
*The runner can only be eliminated by a barrel tag or a trap/mine. *Any paintball hits from a marker on the runner do not count.
*The runner cannot have any way to eliminate their opponent (no marker, grenades, suicide vest, etc).
*The case will stay with the runner til the mission ends. The case cannot be handed off to another player to continue the mission. If the runner drops or loses the case and still proceeds to the flag station, the ref will not sign off and no points will be earned.

Coalition Objectives:
Coalition forces will sit tight for the time that the Terrorists will be setting up and NOT allowed on the field, on the observation decks or any way to view the Terrorist forces as they are staging on the field. If any Coalition forces are caught observing the Terrorist as they are staging, that player will be ejected from the night game. When the game starts, the Coalition forces will be allowed to enter the field through ANY entrances possible (Main central hub, Lunar Wars, Apocalypse, Korea, Forbidden City, etc.).
*When the mission starts, the Coalition forces must bring in a flag to create their own spawn/rally point onto the field. If this spot is NOT created and held, then the Coalition forces CANNOT respawn on the field.
*If a Coalition player can barrel tag the runner, then that player, the Runner and the ref with the runner, will return to the center hub, where the Runner will turn in the current list. The Coalition player can then tag back in at the Coalition respawn point. The runner will wait 5 minutes with the hub ref before re-inserting. During the wait time, the hub ref will give the runner a new list.
*If the Coalition takes one of the 4 Terrorist flags, then the points generated from those flags go to the Coalition, unless the Terrorist can get that flag back.

Terrorist respawn at any of their 4 flags, as long as it is their color. Coalition respawns at their flag and any other flag they have taken over. Timed insertions will be determined by total number of players attending.

At the beginning of the mission, at all entrances into the field, there will be an established “safe zone” to give the Coalition a chance to come onto the field without the worry of coming into a wall of paint thru a fatal funnel.

If there are any questions, please post up or pm me on here.

Thank you to all of you that have come out to the final Mission: Impossible of 2012. The night game Saturday night and yesterday's game was very intense!

We (Mic and I) have to say that for Saturday nights game, the added effect of the fog machine made it surreal and game play unforgettable, with Kamikaze racking up the barrel tag/kills. Yesterday's game play was no exception, especially the big game that encompassed all 4 fields and included the walk-on and private groups!

We would first like to that Giant Sportz, Hollywood Sports Park and their staff, especially Jon Asperin for allowing us to run Mission: Impossible this year and giving us their support.

Next we would like to thank Shaun "Kamikaze" Kimura from Team Knuckle Draggerz and Ed Sampilo from Ronin pump team for leading each faction and sticking it out throughout the whole year and giving each other a run for their money!

And finally, to all the players that have played at any of the dates that were scheduled this whole year. There are too many of you to mention and frankly I am not able to remember who came out to play! lol! We have planned each event to be enjoyed by players of every skill level and we hope that those walk-ons and private groups that participated in the big game scenario, will continue to come back to play and help us grow the sport of paintball.

Again, thank you for letting us put you all through the ringer! LOL

Mission Impossible: the Game makes a really favorable impression to me with its intriguing quest line made up of agents’ daily duty, but finally lets me down with its click-maniac mechanics that fails to breathe life into the well-knit story.
