I am a new Tippmann Forum member and have been playing paintball since 1989.  I have had my Tippmann 98 custom for at least 16 years.  I upgraded it to a double trigger, expansion chamber, rocket cock and an RT trigger.  Way back when I first installed the RT trigger I was hoping for a better rate of fire but since I was using CO2, the best I ever got was a double tap, not the bursting I was hoping for.  As a result, the 98 was placed as a backup or loaner marker.  Recently I have been using automags and purchased a ninja SHP regulator to help with my ReTro valve.  I noticed that the website claimed that this regulator would be specifically helpful for Tippmann's equipped with RT triggers as well as Autmag RT valves.  I kept this information in the back of my mind.  This last weekend I decided to bring out the 98 and was excited to find that the marker was MUCH more reactive with the ninja SHP reg.  I didn't think I was going to be excited to use my 98 ever again but I really had fun using it again.  I never knew it needed higher pressure output.

My questions:  The ninja SHP defaults at 1100 psi output.  I told my friend about my discovery, his daughter has a 98, and wants to upgrade hers. He said he found info online that suggests that the output pressure be set to 950 with Tippmann RTs.  Is 950 the proper output I should set the regulator?  Could the higher output of 1100psi cause damage to the internals?  My automag seems to be happy with the 1100psi output and I would prefer not having to remove shims every time I want to use the 98.

1150 psi won't hurt your 98.  You may see a slight loss in air efficiency though.

The output is 1100psi.  I'm quite impressed with the results.  I'm sure I'll wear out the sear a little quicker because I'm shooting it a little faster but I'm ok with that.
