Barrel shrouds

Hi there, just recently bought myself an apex2 for my tippmann 98 (I would highly recommend it, excellent barrel for woods-ball, but not the right sort for speed-ball, the range is pretty damn impressive though) but anyway, I was wondering about barrel shrouds for the new barrel, and it may seem like a 'noob' question, But how do the barrel shrouds work? as in, how do they attach to the barrel? 
Any help on the subject would be greatly appreciated
