Khan Academy is great. Another tool that may be helpful is finding Accuplacer practice exams. I had to take a placement test a few years ago after going without any math for a while and going through those practice exams helped a ton. I knew I'd be taking an Accuplacer, but I bet most math placement exams are pretty similar. |

I also found another cool website, to help with job searching. www.jobscan.co
You enter your resume' and the full job description. It will compare the two and give you suggestions on what words you're missing, to help your resume' get through their automated filters.

I never saw your comment Tallen, sorry for the late reply. It certainly is scary. I'm especially worried with the markets and the yield curve about to become inverted, which is a big indicator for upcoming recession. Not including the Cheeto in Chief slapping tariffs on everything.
I ended up coming back to Phoenix to interview with the local manager here, I'd be starting out at the very bottom if I stayed with the company. I did load up my truck with stuff and put it in storage. After I found out I'm still needed in Albuquerque for a few more months in my current position... And yesterday found out my immediate boss is quitting, because he too got screwed over by our boss (the one who warranted my demotion). I did talk to my parents friend who works for the local utility company, no openings right now but told me to keep checking. I did look at the local union, and they require a written aptitude test that includes algebra. Thankfully I found an awesome website called www.KhanAcademy.org to help me re-learn basic algebra. Math was never my strong suit, I was more of a History and English guy back in HS haha. While waiting for the opening, I applied at Shamrock Food's, and Nabisco. Sorry for the rambling, its been a weird couple of weeks.

That's good then. I'm torn about work myself right now. Didn't get the promotion I wanted (and was told was coming by my now former boss who got demoted himself) and the new management ladder over me right now means I'm going to be starting back at square one with letting people know where I want to be in the company. The wife and I are very tempted to finally embark on our distillery plan, but it's scary as we too are comfortable at the moment. |

It was actually a relief. I wanted out, but was too comfortable to leave. This gave me the nudge I needed.

Dude, that sucks! I know you said they were having some financial difficulties. Union electricians make good money as do linesmen. You won't regret either of those decisions. |

Was told this morning I'll be demoted. So now I'm moving back home and applying for union electrician or lineman.

Yeah, that's a tough one, especially if the GF isn't available at the moment to act as an interpreter for the two of you. Have you used any of the translator apps for your phone? I know Google Translate will work offline and translate speech to speech (ie, she talks and it says what she's saying in English). Not sure how well it handles the Scottish accent though. Microsoft Translator can work really well if downloaded on both your phone and the GF's mother's phone. It allows you to have a two-way spoken conversation without pauses. Is the GF ethnic Uzbek? Currently in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.
Great place but the heat is going to kill me. Had an overnight in Samarkand which is simply stunning. Also, my gf's mother speaks no English and my Russian is more or less limited to insulting people's mothers so im kinda stuck for conversation. |

Flying out to Missouri on Monday, then driving to Lake of the Ozarks. It's been about 4 years since I've had a week long vacation, so I'm pretty stoked!

Well, called Costco back today to schedule an appointment, and it turns out the guy I talked to yesterday was wrong and they don't have anything in that size either. So I ordered the Michelins and should have them in 7-10 days. Yay Alaska.
