Watch you language! The alloy used for tanks is one that is heat treated. Though aluminum, it will ring like a bell because of the materials (hardness) and shape. The liquid CO2 inside damps the vibration...like putting your finger against the side of a bell to quiet it. It just happens that the size, shape and hard aluminum support the reverberations. Different size tanks could give you different notes...size your tanks right, line them up and you could play a tune with a small hammer.

Yes, and I'd stop saying it, since mods dont look kindly upon newer members using it at all, let alone that frequently.
Anyway, mother role aside, I'd go along with the bet of it being an antisiphon thats vibrating when you hit the tank. If it works fine and nothing is leaking/ the valve isnt unscrewing from the tank, I'd say you have nothing to worry about. Now you said you dont know what an antisiphon is? Basicly, think of it this way. But a CO2 tank on a marker. Point it down, so the CO2 tank is upside down, and shoot a bit. The flakes of "snow" is from the liquid co2 entering the gun and being shot out. Dry ice I suppose. The antisiphon just prevents this, thus preventing your gun from freezing up. Google it. |
