Heyya!

Asking this question is sorta dumb because you are on a Tippmann Forum and the A-5 is a Tippmann marker.

I'd say personal preferance. Both are fast, both will probably be reliable, but the Spyder is more of a...speedball gun I suppose, though both can work well in the woods or arena.

Good luck!

In all actuality, the milled, single-piece recievers of the Spyder are stronger than the clam-shell cast recievers of the A-5 or 98 Custom.

And many Spyders cost less than a 98 Custom, and very few are plastic.

It's better to say, "I do not like them." ;)

Good luck!

Personally, Im worried about chopping in the new Electra. 30bps but no eye? I know it ACS, but I heard that its not that great.

You call the Eagle, Eagle does the rest.

Barrel length means nothing in terms of accuracy or distance, you do not gain any benefit from a longer barrel except a larger surface area for people to shoot you.

Heyya!

Spyders can readily be adapted to use ACE or a custom bolt that prevents chopping. A hopper that can keep up with your trigger speed will also suffice, considering you probably won't be shooting over 20bps (bps claims usually= bps minus the p).

Anyway, buggy, I've owned three 98 Customs, a Procarbine, and two A-5s. I've owned three Spyders, a One, Victor, and E-99.

Guess what? The 98 Customs are a pain to work on, to install a VA, etc. The Carbine runs great. The A-5s ran...alright. The Cyclone kept getting out of line on one and the tombstone leaked on the other so the latter was quickly sold. The only problem with the Spyders was on the One, it tended to have bolt stick.

Anyways, good luck!

id get a procustom, the sear tripper one........
if youre getting a first gun thats a great gun to start out with
or maybe just get a egrip for your a5......those things are pretty good....

THe electra doesnt look half bad but its more a speedball type marker. Quality might be a bit lower cuz its made in Taiwan or China, but they wont cheap out as much as tippmann and do stuff like add plastic powertubes, aluminum valves instead of steel so they strip, potmetal guns, unpolished internals

PErsonally i would just stick with the a5 rt....Getting the spyder is not and upgrade, its the same class gun as the tippmann, Low end
even worse, its a low end electro, and those feel pretty cheap and toylike to me

Setup:
Tippmann98c
Silver Vein powdercoat
Palmer's male stab
Ported elbow
Double trigger with stop
Lapco bigshot
Trigger slop mod
ricochet ak

me and my neighbor were actually looking at the electra today and found that it is very reliable  on kingman.com it is like 330 or something but on Actionvillage.com it is like 290

i thought it was weird how they would put out 30bps when you would never ever need that.  the most i would need is around 12 or 11 not 30.

Also i think the electra is a better buy because it is higher quality. example no plastic power tubes and unpolished milling and a crap ball detent. dont get me wrong....I still love tippy's but in this case go with an electra.

*edit* dont get rt because most fields dont even allow it

If you're going to plop down around $300 for a marker, I'd go for either the B2K04 or the Ion, not the Spyder.  The only unique thing on the Electra is the rocker-trigger.  But I don't think that makes up for the PDS/eyes on the other two markers.  Drop the price of the Electra $75 to $100, and it might be worth it.

The person he [is, or is imitating] also acted like this.

Spyders aren't bad, but I'd go for an Ion or 'cocker over them.
