How do you tell what your velocity is set at?

I have a 98 custom...do you turn it all the way in then turn it out so many turns or something????

Just go to the park and use the Chrono. you should set it at like 280FPS or so. Depends on the park. IF you or a friend has a Chrono just set it at around 280fps also.

you have to use a chrono to set your velocity. Theres simply no other reliable, safe way to do it.

all guns have differant velocitys. theres so many variables that make every gun differant. so just use a chrono like they said to find a safe speed.

Why would you want know the "non safe way" of tuning your velocity to your marker?

you could shoot at a shed about 300 feet away and shoot and if
it hits the shed in a 1/2 a second then turn it down, but since air
resistance slows down the paintball, make the paintball hit a
shed 300 feet way in about 1 1/2 seconds err something

Not bad. But like you said wind resistance and gravity would slow the ball. Atleast your thinking.

That doesnt accurately tell you what the velocity is on the marker....to shoot a shed thats 300 ft away, the velocity would have to be way passed 300 fps and thats beyond the fps limit to be used on a regulated paintball field and for the balls to be shooting that fast, they would be breaking in the barrel and shooting in all directions...and for a marker to able to reach 300 ft, an airsoft gun would have to be used and those things shoot way beyond 300 fps....theyre between 350 to 500 fps or even more than that.

You would also have a margin of error of about 100 to 200fps.  You would still need a chronograph to get accurate timing.  Which is what a chronograph does, measures the time as a projectile between two points.

Yes, I was watching the paintballs and the one from the marker on the left was definitely moving faster.  Either that or the trigger on that one was pulled first.

The only accurate way to determine the speed of the paint from a marker is to use a chronograph.  This is a safety issue and is not something anyone should mess around with.
