ok, so i got suckered into helping my buddy work on a cocker he got for free. its a 99 mech in flat black. basicly, it wont fire at all. i think it might need a new front block or ram (dont know what to call it, never owned a cocker). is there annything i should look at before i start tearing into it and buying parts? like i said, iv never owned or worked on one. tnx in advance!

It wont fire at all? Could be anything on a cocker.
Best bet is to read up on how they work, and how to tune them. Otherwise you will be flying blind, and thats how you end up paying for a new gun for your friend. |

Or the easiest thing to fix it would be to buy a nice pump kit for it.... Or you could give it to me. I dont live that far...

Just stat working through the firing process, to determine whats wrong.
As a person with Gold ranking, i'm to assume you know a bit about paintball already, so I can skip some of the basics. Just start at the beginning of the airsource, and work your way through the gun. Is the ASA allowing air though the hose, is the on/off working? Is the HPreg allowing air through. its kinda hard for a front block to go bad, without leaking badly. Is the 3way moving when you pull the trigger. This list could get long, tell us what it DOES do when you air it up and pull the trigger. |

+manually cock the gun back (pull the back block back).
-if it wont pull back at all then the bolts probably stuck. -if it pulls all the way back and the lower rod stays back and it doesnt shoot or if the rod doesnt stay back then its probably the cocking lug + pull the trigger -if you hear the hammer drop then the gun should shoot. * aired up + pull the trigger -does the back block move, do you hear air in the 3 way? if it doesnt, cock it back manually. + pull the trigger - does the hammer drop? do you hear a pop like the gun is firing? the most common problem with cockers is the timing. if the guns not timed right it wont shoot right. you need to be more clear as to whats not working on the gun for myself or others to help you. will the gun cycle but not fire? fires but not cycles, fires and cycles but wont shoot? none of the above? wants to but wont? my money is on the gun being timed wrong, cocking rod, 3 way rod or sear lug... very rarely will a ram go bad to the point it freezes up or wont work at all. |

well 1st off looks like the LPR threads are stripped out...
in theroy if that can be threaded in or drilled and tapped for a larger fitting then you should be fine...at the worst a new LPR |

na, its not stripped, its just not screwed in. the other one (look hard above the top gold thing) is broke off. anny idea why it wont slide all the way foward when its pulled back and released?

the sear catches the hammer so theres nothing forcing the back block forward.
if its just a barb broken off you can just replace that. they cost about $.75 each from clippard. |
