    Posted: 21 February 2005 at 6:14am

Heey,

Yesterday on the field it was one big mess. I sprayed al over the place. My A-5 chopped one ball after the other.

I took it appart and looked in the cyclone feed. It got paint everywere. But there is no wearing of the materials. They all looked good. The feed screw was not to tightend. The output pressure of my HPA bottle is 800 psi. My rear spring is not worn. I have installed the updates for the cyclone.

My setup was E-grip set on semi ROF screw turned to max, JCS Duel trigger, HPA, 32* night styk and I used the stock barrel. The paint was new Draxxus midnight and blaze.

I've searched on this forum and I found out there is almost no chance to outshoot the Cyclone feed. But why did I spayed then?

Hope you guy's van help me,

Greets,

Dominick

Bad paint? It takes only one to break to screw up the cyclone. Also cold weather can screw up paint when it sits out for too long.

yea and watch where u keep ur paint the humidity has to be around 50 to 60% also it could be that ur velocity is really high.but i dont think it should chop balls even if it is high i think its ur paint

My velocity was 245 fps. It might be the paint, but I bought it yesterday.

Did you check to see how long the paint was sitting on the shelf at the store?  Even the best premium paint will settle as it sits on the shelf.  Get into the habit of actually looking at your paint before putting it in your gun.

Well, it was a little cold. But other players didn't had this problem, paint breaking because of the cold.

So it's most likely the paint. Some players did said it already, but I didn't believe them. The paint does indeed look a little bit old. That's a relief for me that it isn't the A-5.

Thanks for the reply's people,

Greets,

I had a lot of problems with too small of a barrel bore size.  were they barrel bursts or was the bolt actually chopping the ball?

if you have a comp air kit installed 800psi is overkill. don't they operate around 400-450 psi ?

check that. I don't think small bore is your problem, most flatline users use it consistantly.

If you don't clean your barrel well after you play, junk can get stuck inside that won't come out through shooting. Little bits of shell can stick inside it and shred your paint. If you let it sit, it takes a lot of work to get it out. Hold your barrel up to the light when it is clean and look throught it. If it is dull or you see debris inside clean it well with alcohol until shiny.

Two things -

First -
I've shot Blaze through the A5 flatline and it works great, but the midnight would be a paint that i would avoid with a Tippmann marker.

Second -
How old is the battery in your Egrip? The timing could be off with the bolt and the cyclone enough to chop the balls.

I'd try a new battery and fire some paint through it again to test.

I have been hearing that sharp edges in the cyclone feed could cause this also...

If I have any ball chopping problems Im gonna try and round the edges of the cyclone with a file..

NO FILE!!!!!!!! Use 600 grit sand paper!! But only polish the metal parts that the ball toutches, unless you find a burr on the plastic. While you are at the hardware store, get a can of "Teflon dry lube" by "Blasters" I think. That will put dry teflon on plastic, metal, anyting on a paintball gun. Spray some of that onto all exterior parts of the cyclone, and spray the inside of a well cleaned, dry barrel (other than a flatline). That will help a lot.

brutl
Inclementia Vigor (Translated from latin to brutal force). And yes, I spell "brutl" wrong on purpose.

I tryed to play this last weekend to,it was about 40 (f)degrees outside. I had my egrip on turbo, with the rof at about half way. the first 5 or 6 balls had no problem with.but after that forget it. so I cleaned up everything, lowered my fps(250) put my grip on semi auto, turned rof all the way down, still the same thing. paint was from the end of last season(nov 04). other plp were useing timmys, and cokers, they had no problems,so i to hope it was just to cold for my tippy to shoot.

Maybe because you chopped one ball because it was egged then the other balls got covered with paint then got all in your barrel then you chopped.
