What is the final look you are going for?  Assualt Rifle, S.M.G, Sniper Styled, L.M.G?

Get a barrel shroud, some type of sight (red dot or scope etc) and the cosmetics would be nicer

E grip, responce trigger and upgrade internals for performance

Then just go use it and enjoy....

Don't worry so much about cosmetics, and keep it functional IMO. I highly disagree with the red highlighted part. Tippmann internals such as the powertube, front bolt, etc do not need to be upgraded as they work fine. Some "upgraded" internals such as aftermarket powertubes can actually decrease performance and cause issues. If it isn't broke, don't fix it. .. If it is, use factory stock parts. One possible exception might be the T-Tech Zero Kick Bolt. They are in fact lighter than the stock rear bolt and have been tested by an older member here that did report less kick and less noise than the stock bolt.

Just keep in mind that everything you add to the marker adds weight. It may not seem like much, but carrying around a 10lb marker all day long can get tiring. Some of those MP5 style magazines sold by Rap 4 are solid metaland can add nearly 2 lbs to the weight of your marker.

Why? The stock Cyclone will handle up to 15bps. Without a Response Trigger or E-grip, you can't shoot that fast.. Even if you do get one of the these, the stock E-grip does 20bps max. Since a lot of commercial field seem to be capping play at 15bps, there really isn't much need even then. Again, unless it's broke, don't fix it. Save your money and get playing time in. Playing time helps build skills more than nearly any upgrade.

I like what you have there, light and simple. I keep mine the same way minus a stock for it, I use my tank as the stock.  I am not one for looks but for performance and reliability.

Firstly : "Don't worry so much about cosmetics"... Disregard this.., the look of your marker is a personal choice and i don't no anyone that does not get amped over the look of a life like marker. It's your paintball tool, so make it look the way you want it to look. Just check out the posts within this forum and see how many Highly Modified Markers there are in comparison with the posts of Stock Standard Markers...
You look different to everyone else so why not make your marker the same?

Secondly: "Just keep in mind that everything you add to the marker adds weight. It may not seem like much, but carrying around a 10lb marker all day long can get tiring."... well what can you say to this other than have a tea spoon of concrete and harden up... It aint that heavy unless you use a shroud made from lead, if you train with it, you'll get used to it... Train Hard, Fight Easy is our motto here in Aus

Thirdly:  I have all Tech T mods and JCS Red Power Tube. Although i never had any problems with my stock internals. I have had no problems with after market parts either. No ball chop's, no cracked front bolts (A common problem with the stock counter part) and reliable as ever... Though One possible exception might be the T-Tech Zero Kick Bolt .  Yes they are lighter which in turn allow for a faster cycling, yes almost no kick and yes they are a little less noisy, but i have had issues with getting and maintaining a 300fps velocity with this. I think mainly because less weight in the bolt means less punch power, but there are spring kits available to compensate for such issue's.

I know this from my personal experience with my Tippmann X7 (closest relative of the A5), and not from what a friend has told me...

If you want it stock then leave it stock, "If it isn't broke, don't fix it. .."  I Totally Agree with 100%

BUT...

If you want to mod it , then polish it, upgrade it and own with it...

But remember mods don't make the player better...

Perhaps, becuase people don't typically waste their time to post up pics of their bone stock markers??  We all know what a stock A5,98 etc look like, do we really need to flood the forum with pics of them? No.

I strongly beg to differ. You will get really tired of carrying around that 10lb+ lead weight if you plan on playing big games/scenarios where you are on the field for hours at a time walking back and forth to the dead box. If you take a stock A5, add metal shrouds, mags, butt stocks etc, than take into account the weight of a tank, fully loaded hopper etc., you end up with a beast of a marker. Granted, getting a sling and perhaps a remote so that you can have the tank on your back help, but it is still weight you are carrying.

Please provide data supporting any increased performance gained by the addition of these parts that warrants the $40-50+ that they cost. If they do not increase performance, what is truly the point?

I have yet to crack a stock front bolt in any of the 6 Tippmanns that I have owned/own. I did however have a 98, that after adding an aftermarket powertube and front bolt, would go into uncontrollable runaway fire after any significant use. I took the parts back out, put in stock internals and never had a problem EVER after.  I have also seen multiple posts on this forum of people putting in aftermarket parts and having serious issues only have them clear up as soon as the stock parts are replaced back in the marker.

Initial shipments of the Zero Kick Bolt had issues reaching 300FPS. Since then, Tech T has begun including stronger springs to resolve this issue.

My experiences are from the several M98's, 98c, and A5's that I have owned/own. Also from advise from more experienced members on this forum over the past few years.

Again, show any statistical data other than, " it shoots better" that supports the claim that polishing does anything to add to the performance of any Tippmann. Mods such as trigger upgrades, barrel upgrades etc. will help and create a more formidable marker. Heavy shrouds, magazines etc will not.

I actually agree with this statement.

Trust me, I love the look of highly modded markers. I have owned several, and still have a couple kicking around here. Just saying for a new player, it is possibly unwise to invest hundreds of dollars into a marker with heavy add-ons that will not increase your performance and in some cases will actually take away from it. Especially for young players with limited resources. The money they spend on upgrades is money that they could use for playing time/paint. When you take into account the fact that most cosmetic mods lose about 1/2 their value as soon as you take them out of the package, it makes even less sense.

Sounds like a plan. The A2 foregrip is plastic/resin so it will hold up and still be relatively light. I had a response trigger on my 98C and had mixed feelings on it. I like the high rate of fire capability, but not being able to fully control the BPS was sometimes annoying. However, it does allow for higher ROF, is significantly cheaper than an E-grip, and best of all, doesn't take batteries.

I'm not going to do the whole quoting thing again, as i don't have the time, but i will say this...
Polishing internals: smooth surface's that move against each other will create less friction than surfaces that are rough. Less Friction = Smooth Action & Faster Cycling
Less Friction = Less Wear = Longer life of moving Parts and more potential output eg: polishing of internal Performance Engine parts (diff altogether i know but the theory is the same)
You are very much correct that not one of the upgraded parts actually add's to the performance of the marker, but if you use them all together at the same time the marker will cycle faster improving the BPS output which is the only real way to measure performance.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xtdOALZN6Ag
They all shoot the same FPS Velocity so that measurement doesn't matter. JCS powertubes and other after market tubes are generally made from an alloy, so there not going to break nearly as easy as a plastic one, but still a plastic one may not break either.
Just go play and you'll soon find out what it is that will improve your marker which will help your game. And mod as you go.

I like your idea with the MP5, Definitely a good looking gun and very functional in all formats of the game. Cant wait to see your project when it's finished, be sure to post pics.
