Hello, I am fairly new to the sport, and have just purchased an E-grip
for my A-5. It was pretty simple to install following the
instructions, but when I tested it it would not function properly.
If anyone else has had any of the problems below, please help me find a solution. SEMI AUTO: Unreliable, fails to fire frequently (fails at least once of every six trigger pulls), sometimes fires in when in safe mode. AUTO RESPONSE: Unreliable, fails to fire frequently (fails at least once of every six trigger pulls, and releases.), sometimes fires in when in safe mode. FULL AUTO: Fires uncontrollably. Does not fire at the same rate as the sear seems to be trying to fire. (ie, two shots for four clicks of the sear.) Fires uncontrollably even when in safe mode. 3 SHOT: fires an average of two balls per trigger pull, although I can hear the solenoid click three times.. Occassionally fires in safe mode. TURBO: Randomly skips shots. I can hear the solenoid, but it is not releasing the bolt consistently. I've done all the simple things found in the manual for troubleshooting, and checked all the wire connections. This thing is brand new and expensive, and it doesn't work. I'm supposed to play tomorrow, and want to figure out how to get it working properly as soon as possible. *shrug* I checked around and it just doesn't seem like anyone else out there has experienced these problems, and all in all the E-Grip seems to be reliable... for everyone else. Please help. |

What kind of trigger are you using? The stock Tippmann single trigger?
How is the gun firing on full auto when in safe mode? Is the trigger releasing the micro switch? You did remove the metal bracket on the stock trigger if you are using the stock trigger, right? |

Trigger is the one that came in the E-grip kit. No metal
bracket. After some close inspection it appears that it is
possible that the trigger was not depressing the micro switch.
I'm using some good old fashioned bendiness to adjust where the mteal
prong meets the trigger. but if that's not it, then what else
should I check?

Battery's low from all the testing, the bendiness seems to have worked
though sometimes in AR it skips on the release or the pull, But that
may be attributed to the low battery. I'll have to re-check it
with a fresh one to be sure that my manual bending actually did any
good.

Okay, thanks for reminding me to check the trigger's engagement with
the microswitch. I was thinking about it all backwards. 9
hours of sleep total since last sunday, and I'm not thinking straight I
guess.
Anyhow bending the little metal peice on the microswitch upwards a bit has made it much more responsive, and it has reduced the amount of missing drastically. I think with a tiny bit more tweaking it should be up to 100%. Thanks again for waking me up to the fact that the trigger is supposed to release the microswitch on a pull instead of depress it. Whew. If I don't get to bed now the guys are going to slaughter me tomorrow. |

Cool, I'm glad you were able to solve your problem.
BTW... to save yourself on posts, you can just EDIT your old ones. |

I know you said you are new to the sport, so your gun probably isn't that old. There is one thing you may want to check anyway.
Some of your problems sound like they may be sear related. Check the sear, make sure the edges are square, not rounded off. Also make sure the bolt -- where the sear makes contact -- is square and not rounded off. This may be your problem with it firing uncontrollably on full auto, as well as shooting while in safe mode. But the fixing of the microswitch and the fresh battery should help more then what I said above. |

If the battery is weak, the solenoid won't have enough power to trip the sear.
Make sure you have a good battery. Edited by FyreFly |

Ok man, since you are fairly new to the sport, you probably did it wrong. You should have gotten tippmann or a paintball shop to do it. your fault
