I recently installed a response trigger, expansion chamber, and a
double trigger into my Tippmann 98 custom. One thing I noticed
which I have not before was that when I screw my barrel in, it pushes
the bolt back slightly cocking it. Then, when I attached gas to
it, I was able to shoot but I had to recock after every shot. It
just comes to mind now that the velocity screw was still all of the way
in, I'm not sure if that has anything to do with any of the
problems. When I played with the response trigger adjuster, I was
able to get a rapid short burst of maybe 4 shots then it would
uncock. Everything was oiled when the gun was apart. Also,
for some reason, the safety does not seem to want to switch from fire
to safe. It will start to go a little, then completely stop
around the red area of the safety. I'm not sure if this would
have anything to do with the double trigger. Any
suggestions? any help anyone could provide would be greatly
appreciated.

did you change the bolt or upgrade the barrel?
Did you remember to put the 2 bolts on the right side of the gun back in? |

the two screws that hold the valve in place are in and the bolt/barrel is stock.

Make sure those two bolts are tight. If not dont tighten, take them out and apply Loctite to them. Then just snug them in. Be very careful not to overtighten! And make sure your ball latch is in correctly. |

yea, those skrews are loctited in, however we did have suspicions about
how the ball latch looked. I will take it all apart again and reoil
everything and see if that helps, Idk why thats shooting all weird, I
dont remember if all the way in is really fast or really slow on the
velocity adjuster.

would an incorrectly placed ball latch make the gun shoot all wacky like it is?

Sure would. Look in your manual to see how it should go.

i'm pretty sure the latch is in correctly, any ideas as to y the safety
will not come off of fire. it moves fine when it is disassembled,
but once i asseble it, it will not come off of fire. It seems
that it willnot push in farther than the little red ring.

Ok, so the ball latch was the problem, now, any ideas as to what the problem with the safety may be?
