I have a 98 Custom with a Flatline and experience some problems. I have been able to fix some, but the biggest problem is that balls fly everywhere. It's not as much always to the right or always to the left but is more like some right some left, some swerve upward or down. Does anyone have any suggestions? Should I get it reistalled? O yeah one other thing, when I first had it, I broke alot of balls. ALOT. and it got pait LITTERALY EveRYWHERE. It seaps out a nobs, you can see it onre the edges of screws. I cant clean it and it's wreaking my finish. HELP!

what type of paint are you using? sounds like your paint is too big for the barrel

EDIT- with the flatline your paint should roll through the barrel without blowing it through. the flatline is very picky on paint if you're using junk it won't work. do a search find out what cheaper paints work decent.

the shroud is bent like the barrel is so crooked it's pushing it out if that's the case your gonna have trouble! follow the instructions carefully be sure the adaptor is all the way in and the barrel is straight with the gun. i just eyeball mine with the gun adjust it so it's even on both sides haven't had a prob yet. as for the marbs are they old or out of round? dimpled or sunk in? roll one on a flat surface if it wobbles back and forth chances are it's bad. if you lost your instructions you can download it from tippmann.

Do you know how to take your marker apart? If not, read the sticky about disassembling the the 98C in the forums. The marker has to be disassembled to be cleaned completely and correctly. "Q" tips, paper towels, and an old tooth brush with running water over a sink will do the job (but the strainer in the sink so you do not loose any of the parts you forget to remove from the halves of the marker)

Marbs no longer seem to be the paint for best performance in the Flatline. Get yourself a ball sizer and check you paint to be no larger than .687". We are finding that PMI All Stars works still but is expensive. Diablo Heat is working very well for us in the Flatlines and this paint is inexpensive.

It sounds like your misbehaving paint is just too large a diameter. We have found Nelson Hot Spot to function just like your problem paint. It sizes at .693". Always select small to medium-small paint for the Flatline. Clean it well with water and squeegee. If it won't come sparkling clean, remove it from the marker and use hot sudsy (dish detergent) in the sink. Work the soapy water back and forth through the barrel with the squeegee and a swap type barrel cleaner (if you have one).

I find it an odd question to ask if you should get it reinstalled. You don't stick a barrel on a marker and just leave it there. You have to take apart your marker every once in a while to clean and lubricate it. Not just to remove broken paint but to get the normally acquired dirt out of the moving parts. You then have to "reinstall" your barrel each time. It is no big deal...read the instructions. Test fire and adjust as needed. It is literally a 5 minute job to adjust the barrel to fire straight...no left or right curve.

As I addressed before, use the correct size paint. The only way the Flatline shoots left, right, up and down when the paint is the correct size is when there is paint, or rain water, in the barrel. Clean it! Oversize paint will behave the same way!

Oversize paint will break in the barrel. If the barrel is not seated into the adapter snuggly...no gap between the end of the barrel and the inside of the adapter...if the parts are not seated with no gaps, any paint may break in the barrel...even the best.

I think when paint broke origionaly there was a gap, making sense for paint everywhere. Do Marbs break easy? If so my velocity might be to high. I might get my gun cleaned profesionaly... bad things happen when I attempt to open my gun "shutter"

well, my best guess personally would be that the flatline is on crooked. maybe not enough to notice with the naked eye, but enough for a gelly type ball rolling 200 miles an hour down the barrel to notice. the first time i installed my friends flatline, he decided after he left my house to see how to take it apart and put it back together. he played around with it a bit and ended up putting it back on the tiniest bit crooked. next time we were at the field he had a paintshotgun. if he took any more than one shot at a time, paint broke, and even when it was only one shot, the accuracy was terrible. i ended up taking it apart, and found that he tightened the barrel adapter the tiniest bit too little. so i put it back together on my own, tried my best to make sure everythign was level and even, and now the gun shoots great. same crappy zap tork brand paint as always, just it needed some adjusting and its good now. i dont know if you got a tippmann tech to install it for you or if you did it on your own. if someone good did it for you, maybe the adapter got moved a little bit or something. get it reinstalled and use some better paint is my best guess.
