Would anyone recommend a 14 inch barrel for a 98 custom?

As said before what type?  Also it depends on your prefference.  If you want a little extra length to push bunkers or brush out of your way when you fire then it may help.  It will be just as accurate as 8-12" barrels as well though.  Personally for the price I would also reccomend the J&J.  They make a great barrel for the 98.  Anothe factor to think about is where the barrel sits on the 98 and A5 alike.  It is at the very front of the marker (unlike some where the breach is actually back a few inches) so the barrel will actually sit the full 14" in front of the marker.  Again though it will all come down to your prefference.  If you can, go to a proshop with the marker and ask if you can see a few different barrels on it for length prefferences.  The worst they can say is no.
