I dont know how many of you other paintball players used to play airsoft, but if you know anything about "hop-up" then this will interest you.

Currently on the 98C ( or any other gun i know of) the ball flap is on the bottom of the barrel, you know that little orange peice ,when the ball goes over it , it places downward spin on the ball ( think the opposite of a flatline). If you had it on the top of the barrel then it would work more like "hop-up" on an airsoft gun and help the ball go farther.

Does anyone think this would work?

1) "Ball Detent"
2) Its purpose is to hold the ball in place till you shoot it.
3) It causes no down spin.
4) The idea of paintball Hop-up has been brought up before.

The ball detent doesn't cause any spin to the ball. You would notice the balls take a sharp dive at the ground if it caused spin.

If it does create a spin, yes it would. It does not though, because the bolt pushes the ball past the detent, and the gas kicks in, therefore no spin.

Great idea though.

Okay i guess i didnt think of that the bolt pushes it past.

I was just thinking of how , if you turn up the velocity on the 98s they will take a certain "dive bomb" and bounce off the ground.

Does any one else notice this?

Yes, because the velocity is too high and the air is having a negative effect on the ball. Fix? TURN IT DOWN.

the flatine barrel is the hop-up solution as well as the Apex barrel... in the end (for paintball puposes) neither is really worth it...

i'd take a straight barrel over one that creates any kind of spin anyday.

if you get a nice LP gun... nice barrel/paint match.. and atleast a 12" but no more than mayyybe 16" barrel... you can shoot just as far with alot more accuracy

around 100ft of flat trajectory... but when you play any sort of speed ball.. that doesnt matter.. most field arent big enough anyway... i play both speed and woods where there is all kinda of over hang... and still prefer straight barrels over flatlines hopups, and apexs......
