i have been playing paintball for about 2 years now. Ever since i started my 98 custom has suited me just fine. Recently i entered some local tournys with friends and we do very well. I was talking with a friend and he wants me to join his CFOA team. I need something to do during the lacrosse off-season so i said id join. Heres the catch i need a new marker. the 98 custom pro has an e-trigger but its too heavy and bulky for someone who plays front like myself.
here is what im considering:
1)ion
2)PMR
3)Invert MINI (i like its compactness)
4)old DM4

any suggestions are appreciated

Well, lets scratch of Ion, just because.

Now, you seem to want a lighter marker, so good-bye DM4.

So we have it down to two choices. The PMR and the Mini. I would say try them out, PMR is more upgrade-able though, and has less problems than the Mini.

If you don't mind look out of those choices, I would look into Fusions. And if you will buy used, some 2k4 or 2k5 Timmys, PM6s (with ups), and if you are lucky, used Quests and Cyborgs. Also if you want to be a little different, take a look at Mags too.

Freestyle, anything besides a generation 1, and given the price range om pmr and mini, perhaps a freestyle 8?

Ions really arent bad guns, it's just that it seems like everyone nad their brother has one now, which isnt a bad thing. They're very upgradeable which is a plus and the price is great for what you're getting. Dont hesitate to pick up a new or used one.

Out of the choices, I would go with the PMR, as the Mini is too small for my liking.

Definitly look into Fusions and Alien Interceptors.  I REALLY want to try an Alien, recently the price just dropped.  $350 for an 05(no reg).  And $399 for an 06, and it includes an Alien reg.  They say the 05s are more picky.

But, out of those, I'd say the PMR.  To me, the Mini, I know its wierd to say, but seems just too small.

If you buy an Ion, buy used. The resale is as bad as Tippmanns and you can find nicely upped ones for stupidly cheap.

Spending someone elses money I'd skip the Ion for tournament play as well.  I personally would buy one for woodsball because they're inexspensive but  I don't think I'd even spend 1 penny on a new trigger or it would defeat the original purpose of an Ion which is inexspensive and decent out of the box.

well, you play front, which means all you need in a marker is accuracy and low-profile.  I'd look for a single-tube design, or a very compact stacked tube.

A shocker would be perfect.  however, if you're like me, and don't support smartparts, you have options as well.  You could always look into an e-mag with a ULE body.  That's a very nice marker, however, price on those things are a little steep.  The invert mini looks promising, however.  Very compact and even reminds me of the automag, somewhat.  I don't have any real experience with them, but they seem like they would serve you perfect.

DP Fusion beats all of the above markers. It's basicall an inexpensive, spring-return Cyborg. It's fast, efficient, and light. It's only $375 too.

Dangerous Power Fusion = best gun for $300-500.

The DP fusion is an awesome marker. Test results have shown that with high end grade paint and a perfect barrel to paint match with the stock reg on the fusion, has absolutely no fluctuations in fps.

The Ion is a very nice dependable marker. It will almost never have problems as long as you take care of it. It has a lot less maintenance than higher end guns anyways. Used Ions are the way to go. You can get fully upped Ions for a little over the price of a new stock Ion.

Between the PMR and mini, the mini is the better choice. Parts on the PMR have to be upgraded very soon to be dependable. The mini is an awesome gun right out of the box.

Basically DM5 and down are farely large markers. You probably don't want that. PM5s and 6s are also farely large. 6s aren't that bad though.

forget the Ion & Mini.. get a Fusion, Etek (I LOVE MY ETEK!!!), '05 Ego, upped '05 Timmy, or upped PMR.
just make sure the Timmy & PMR has at least a new board.

Heck you can even find some really dirt cheap Shockers these days.

Well surely diedonimpact has made up his mind by now, but I'll give my .02

The mini is a good choice.

Last month, I was thinking on buying a marker from three choices: DP Fusion, PMR and Mini, but then I had a chance to get a mini, and it works wonders.

I have a couple of friends on my team who have PMRs and as robocop said, they had to change several parts pretty soon as their PMRs started to act up on them.  I have shot about 5 cases on my mini, and it's still going, I just have to do the regular maintenance, and it's good to go.

I wish I had a chance of trying a DP Fusion though, they seem to be good.
