wow ive had so much difficulty choosing which pump to get, so now i will either get an S6 or a phantom. phantom has a huge reputation and i love their size and weith and feel, but ive also heard that the S6 is the best pump gun ever made. I am a big fan of cockers, but i dont no if id like the feel and weight of an S6 compared to a phantom. Is there any accuracy difference? i plan on getting a barrel kit for eithr gun i get. Both are going to be about hte same price. |

You're going to spend $550 on a Phantom? That's more than my (would-be) Duckslide project, and that had all the bells and whistles... You sure you priced that right? Edited by DeTrevni - 14 October 2007 at 5:01pm |

See, this is where the, "Hey, DeTrevni and Tallen know TONS about paintball and live, breath, and eat the stuff, perhaps I should PM them and ask them if they know where I can get something good for CHEAP." thought should have crept into your head.

You have no clue what you're talking about. I've owned 3 Phantoms and they are great markers. I've owned no cocker based pumps, but have shot many. It all comes down to preference. Do you want to play stock class or open class? Phantoms are better suited for SC play wile cocker based pumps are better suited for OC. Remember, Phantoms can go from SC to OC in less then a couple of minutes, while the SC has to have a ghetto stick feed put on to make it stock. Plus, with the S6 you can't really play with 12g and expect and decent efficiency. Edited by Linus - 28 October 2007 at 10:09pm |

So, you're saying that paying over $200 for a phantom when they can be had for ~$120 used is a good thing? I mean, if your "you have no clue what you are talking about" was aimed at someone else, then I'm sorry, but seriously. Unless it has some major collection value, paying over $200 for any used stock-class marker when you are JUST STARTING stock class play is farking stupid! You find phantoms with the SC and OC feeds, vert or gas-thru t-stocks over on MCB for that price every single day. A Ghost? Yeah, I'd pay over $200 for one. An old BE SC or P-68SC? You betcha if they're in the right shape, but phantoms are a dime a dozen used right now. |

I just sold my P68SC, in near mint condition, for less then $200. If you are willing to pay over $200, then you must be living in loads of cash, because they go for less then $170, and only ones I've ever seen go for $200 are BNIB.
Again, if you want a Phantom the way YOU want it, it's going to cost you. I'd like you to find me a used VSC Phantom for $120... it wont happen unless it's a pieced one, or if something is wrong with it. You will RARELY find a VSC in normal condition for under $180... I just got one for $160 and that was a steal considering it was LNIB. But hey, I still havnt shipped out my P68sc if you want to buy it... I'll send his money back and expect your $200... |

NIB is the right shape for any of the older SC models if you're going to pay over $200 there bub. If you read my post, you'd understand that.
The VSC Phantom I linked above from MCB in one of my original posts was $185, I've seen them dumped for cash at MCB for down to $120 when people get desperate. I'll let you know when I see another good one out there Linus. As for PPBH's needs, he seemed to be pretty easy-going on his demands as to what he wanted the marker to be capable of and what he wanted it to look like. So finding a phantom for under $200 would have been easy enough wouldn't it! |

I've got a basic micro vsc that I can't seem to get rid of at 150 over on mcarterbrown. Not when people are dumping custom anno jobs like tallen just posted for 185-225. If you're looking in the right place, you can find awesome deals on great phantoms. Definitely under 200.
I won't post my thread, but here's another one for 160, it gets bonus points for uniqueness. http://www.mcarterbrown.com/forums/pump-guns/25028-ghetto-mi cro-phantom-fs-ft.html Seriously, if you're willing to look for a couple of weeks, you can find almost anything for sale over there, if you have a month, you'll probably find it pretty doggone cheap. I've set up a residence lurking there since I'm back to having some online time here recently. Awesome site. |

.....ya i paid a bit much, but im new so i dont care. why does no one use the phantom for open class? why is the phantom better for stock class and why does no one use it for open class, because thats what ill probably be doing the most. as well, why is the cocker pumps better than a phantom? as far as i can tell, the phantom is lighter, faster(autotrigger) and fits like a glove.

Phantoms are great for open class. The only thing that makes them better for SC than a sniper-based pump is the fact that they get more shots per 12g out of the box and have a smaller profile.

Many people prefer a cocker based pump for OC for the fact that
A) It's a heavier set up, keeping it closer to a semi B) You can get a cocker based pump for less then $100, while an OC Phantom will be atleast 50% more. But you get what you pay for. |

I personally think the phantom is a great open class marker, I just love the nelson vavle train though. I wish e carter made a vert direct feed for buzzards.
