Any ideas on how I can prevent my paint from breaking while they are in my pods around my waist while I play??

Actually, foam on the bottom doesn't work to badly. The old JT slam pods had a bit of small-cell foam at the bottom of them to prevent paint from breaking.

Also, pack pods full to the top, you don't want to crush the paint when you're snapping the lid down, but you don't want there to be any room for it to move around on you. That is about the best you can do.
