Topic: Muffler Posted: 09 May 2006 at 8:50pm |
So I was screwing around, and I threw a heavily ported 2 foot lenth of 1" PVC on the barrel of a friends 98c I was cleaning...I cemented endcaps on a 2 foot lenth of 2" PVC, drilled it out, and mounted it over the 1" section...shot the gun...made it a bit louder...went back to the drawing board...
I packed the 2" section full of seriously flammable quilting-from an old couch cushion (found that out after passing a bottle rocket through it for no real reason...but, at least it renders it ineffective for firearms...) repacked the PVC with fresh quilting and tried it out again...much to my surprise, the gun was noticably quieter...kinda played with it for a while, then put it away...
That weekend, we played at my house, and I brought it out to try out...left it on my friend's 98c because it didn't fit on my A5's Flatline...it was quiet, but still definately noticable...
I came around a corner of a shed and saw my friend laying on the ground, not 20 feet from me...an easy shot...he doesn't even see me, he's just laying there...then a staccatto burst exploded behind me so I ducted back...the wall was splattered in paint...I didn't realize what was going on, so I stuck my head around the corner again...he didn't seem to be shooting...then I heard a sick whistling scream as his shots whizzed right by me...
No noticeable report from the gun when you're on the recieving end...pretty sweet...and...for reasons unbeknowst to me, the contraption also increases accuracy and range, even though the ball makes no contact with the barrel...
A simple loop and post make it attach and detach to most guns in 5 seconds or less...
My sincerest appologies to the moderators if this by any means constitutes something illegal, and I will remove it imediately if nessecary...

Sweet pic...
No idea why the range goes up...maybe theres just a bit more gas behind the ball since in effect the barrel is longer...anyways, it works...just one of those mysteries of life...oh well...
And as it would be ineffective as a firearms silencer (foam/quilting is flammable, and would burn away, turning it into Homer's "Loudener") it is technically legal...I checked the site...

More gas behind the ball means more velocity...
It doesn't take a goofy little silencer to make the ball go further. All you have to do is crank up the juice.

I think someone should write to the ATFE ***holes and see if there is a way to make a LEGAL suppresser for a paintball gun that you would not have to pay a $200.00 TAX. the ATF would most likely work with you. if there is... that someone would make a LOT of money.

there is. you yave to make the silencer an actual part of the marker, as in not glued, or screwed into, or soldered, but the silenced barrel has to be an extension of the marker itself. now, since this discussion is illegal, i wont tell you how to do that. plus, it is NOT worth the time and effort.
also, this is an older topic. avoid bumping threads a month old.

I have made a few of these over time and they deffinately work. Mine is 12 inches long made of 2 inch pipe, insulation, and one inch pipe on the inside with multiple holes drilled in it. Works perfectly, you can barey hear it when you shoot, and not at all when being shot at.
I will remove if its illegal but if not I will keep on usin it, works awesome for sniping.

the onnly way to make a silencer for paintball, is to make one that there is absolutly no possible way to attach it to a real gun. Pretty much the only way to do this is to make it permanent, or have some REALLY wacked out threading system.
But if anyone has not mentioned it before. Silencer discussion s forbidden on the forums. LOCK
