I was considering buying a paintball handgun. They are cheap and don't cost alot to play with. They are simple and straight to the point and i think it would be a challange to play with. Is a paintball pistol the same thing as a pump marker?(aka phantoms and other stock classes) or is there a difference in proformance. Any pistols you recomend? |

Pistols do not need to be pumped. That is the main difference between pumps and pistols.

I have seen some pump pistols before. The thing im worried about is the range. I still want to be able to fire as far or close to some of the average paintball markers. Is the pistol less powerfull in its shots?

not tecnically because 280fps is still 280fps coming out of any gun
but if you buy a $30 pistol against a $300 pump the pump wins by far. yeah for what you want, the pump for sure. pistols have between crap and no barrel you will get much better range from a pump than a pistol. (on average) |

Those are PGPs. I believe the are Sheridan pumps, so they are still pumps. Edited by jerseypaint - 05 November 2006 at 9:53pm |

im looking for a pistol or a pump that i can make as my main gun. i was thinking the sheridan pgp or the zues G1. ive heard good things about both. Plus the zues comes with a longer barrel. what about the pgp? Also where can i find these guns. If you have a sujestion for a pump just tell me. im not looking to spend much at all though

i believe phantoms are like 300? if you want a main gun, pump you will regret to the end a pistol as main you will never be close enough to be effective with a pistol. |

play pump style. not many will regulate themselves to only pistols, but lots play with only pump guns. It would be much wiser to pick a pump than a pistol. hehe I played with a splatmaster rapide' the one time, that was fun. a pistol which held 20 rounds, but the thing is after ever 5 shots you had to turn the little clip because there was 4 differnt sections of it that held 5 paintballs each. |

I've seen a lot of people who only play with PGPs. It's a good choice because you get the feel of both. If you're in the market for a pump/pistol, I'd definately reccomend the PGP.

Pumpker'd; (V.) When a pump player runs up and shoots you at point blank range because you thought 20bps made you good.

I say put in the money for a CCI Phantom. They are amazing markers, and they're a lot of fun to play with.
You can pick up a baseline Phantom for $180 or $205 depending on the type of grip you want. You could pick up a Vertical Stock Class Phantom for $220 or $250, also depending on tthe type of grip you want. Here are some great sites to look for Phantoms and upgrades: Wevo Paintball Doro Paintball |

I would definitely go with a Sheridan PGP. You can get one relatively
cheap from Ebay. I would suggest the newer version of the PGP, it's
just as good as the old one, but with more features. It's got a slide
on the feed tube to enable you to load it faster, it is made with a
factory "quick-strip" mod, it comes with a factory "speed nut" for
faster CO2 changes, and it utilizes a newer stlye valve that requires
no special tools for removal. When properly tuned, it's very
effiecient. Add a quality paint that matches your barrel, and
you're good to go!
