Hmmmm. looks very similar doesn't it? if the internals are the same, you won't get much use out of it per-shot. the 12-gram Co2 doesn't have enough punch to keep pushing that hammer back again and again for more than about 10 shots. The accuracy on the extreme was horrible, but it doesn't look like the same barrel on the PB pistol you've got there.

Cleaning the Psycho Ballistics pistol looks like it'd be a snap though, pop the cotter-pin, pull the retaining bolt and slide the stack out the rear.

One nice thing about those, though, is that the feed tube is detachable and you can turn the stop-cock to keep the rounds from coming out. If you have the dough, you can buy extra "magazines" for fast re-loading.

Well, weigh the advantages.

Semi pistol: Horrible efficiency, heavy, heavy trigger pull, inaccurate.

PGP pump: Great efficiency, still heavy I'm sure (but in a better way), stock class legal, a LOT more accurate, more customizing potential, cheaper.

Would you really be willing to trade all that fore maybe 4 or so more BPS?

I'd go with a Delta.

Pumpker'd; (V.) When a pump player runs up and shoots you at point blank range because you thought 20bps made you good.

pistols are only good for shooting at local kids , which im sorta guessing you plan to do

detrevni is right about all that but I don't even think you will get more than 4bps extra from the pistol

  • I owned an early model PT Extreme and didn't like it
    • Had to replace the main spring with a heavier one to get over 220 fps
    • Valve leaked constantly
    • Stock ball detent was useless (finally made my own)
    • The only purpose the front sight ever served was to catch on the holster
  • I owned a Sidekick Semi as well but only kept it for a few days before sending it back
    • Velocity fluctuated between 200 and 440 fps with each shot
    • Valve (blow forward design) would freeze up under rapid fire
  • I bought a Piranha USP about two months ago-I haven't used it in a game yet, but have experimented with it quite a bit
    • Good stuff
      • Comes with a second heavier spring (which I don't seem to need to use)
      • Rather than "shrink" their internals to minimize the size of the pistol, Piranha chose to just have the magazine feed in the opposite direction (from the back of the gun to the front)
        • This means that the firing system is a proven system similar to the one used in their other mechanical markers (very reliable)
        • A lot of the problems with my PT were directly related to the "downsizing" of the firing mechanism to have the balls feed at the rear of the marker and allow for a longer barrel
      • CO2 screw comes with a pull out lever to aid in tightening/loosening during 12 gram installation/removal
      • Flush cocking system
      • Cheap-can be found for $60-80 on e-bay
        • Also comes with a basic holster and belt and assorted spare parts and tools
    • Bad stuff
      • The standard size operating system is offset by a shorter barrel (under 5")-not accurate at longer ranges (50 ft +)
      • The magazine
        • Not removeable
        • Slowest to load of any I've used (feed gate that has to be opened and paint hangs up on the edge of the chamber during loading)
        • Worst grips ever (should be immediately replaced)
    • Other stuff (good or bad, depending on point of view)
      • No sights (I don't see a need for them-if I'm using this in a game, I probably won't have time to aim)
      • Front of barrel is threaded to accept Evil Pipe Fronts
      • Pistol will accept PMI electronic grips (10 rounds at 15 bps-why?)
      • Uses screw in type CO2 puncture knob (after wasting many 12 grams because of the quick release one on the PT, I think this is a good thing)
      • Grip frame is set up for bottom line (but valve is not easily accessable for constant air)

Overall, I think the USP is the best pistol available for use as an inexpensive 2nd "back up" marker on the field. (I'd like to have a Tac 8, but they are kind of expensive and, according to reviews, they have trouble with the valve freezing up under rapid fire just like the Sidekick did.)  With the slow reload time, I'm not sure I'd recommend the USP as someones only marker, unless they like a challenge. On the other hand though, the USP is the most reliable pistol I've used, and I'd rather have 10 shots I can count on than any number of shots that I can't count on.

Edited Note: Yes Carl, I said something nice about Piranha products, now calm down.

Second Edited Note: If I could only have one marker and wanted to shoot limited paint, I'd keep one of my pumps and get rid of everything else. Don't limit yourself to just considering pistols, you'd be surprised what you can pick up in a decent pump for not very much money.
