    Posted: 16 January 2009 at 1:39pm
I am currently thinking about opening a new paintball field in my area, and would love some advice.  I am thinking of leasing a warehouse with about 4000 sf of playing area, with about a 1000 sf pro shop.  The field would be more scenario than speedball with rooms and hallways and sandbag bunkers.  I am also thinking of using tippmanns 98 rentals for my rental guns, i was thinking 20 or so.  i would love to hear some new ideas and some pros and cons i might not have thought of.  There is only 1 other field in this area and its not that good and the owner is a jerk.  Anyways thanks for reading this, I hope you guys can help.

if its indoors, you might want to look into rental ions instead of 98's

with the ions  the initial cost would be too high, and the tippmanns are just solid guns.

but thank you for the suggestion

Rain barrels make really good cover and are pretty cheap.

you might want to just get some cheap land and build a
little hang out area and put your proshop in a trailer.
That would allow your business to expand and grow if you
get more volume and want to make more fields. But you
could always see if the market's good with this before
investing more money into doing that. Okay i went in a
circle there. Ya stay away from ions, cause then you'd
have to maintain them. You can get a couple hundred
empty sandbags online and fill them yourself for dirt
cheap. When my buddies and I were building a course I
always used to check craigslist's free section.
Sometimes people will through away old furniture and
mattress, etc. We also used pallets and those were
pretty sweet.

I'd recommend vibes instead. Cheaper, and I believe more reliable (but I could be wrong). Plus, they're water proof!

Just go with Tippmanns.  They'll do the job well, and as its a close quarters combat type of thing, the extra cost for a faster marker isn't really justified, especially if you're just making a field.
