I have a Tippmann 98 custom, and when you put co2 in it, and cock it back, it shoots fine the first shot, but then it doesnt blow back, and you have to cock it again for another shot. I made a video of it to show you what i mean.

it's an older 98, and it has the older sear spring (i think it's called the pull spring). I took the gun apart and this is what it looks like. I'm aware that i put the spring on wrong in some of the pictures, but i fixed that and the problem persists. As you can see from the picture of the full gun, the sear spring is on correctly.

A long long time ago. I bought this from one of my friends for 15$ about a year ago. Never played with it, never shot it, or oiled it. Could the problem really be just a lack of oil?

Video doesnt work. Looking at the last picture, your detent is gone. Shouldnt affect the shooting of the marker, but looks like something is sitting on top of the front bolt. I would agree with Mack about the cleaning though. tear it down, and clean the halves with some steel wool (water and brillo pads work well). Second, look over the manual, one can be found at www.tippmannparts.com. Read it thoroughly and check out the diagram. I noticed in some of the pics your sear is in upside down. Take inventory that you have all the parts and that they are in the proper spot and than do some oiling on the marker. Hopps #9 gun oil, air tool oil or marker oil will all work fine. Do not use WD40 or 3 in 1 oil. If the marker has been sitting for that long, you may need to buy a new O-ring kit and install it.

Alright thanks for that. Going to begin troubleshooting it now. Fixed the video url so that should work now. If you notice the last picture i got the sear in right, and that didn't seem to fix the problem. If i get it fixed, ill report back.

Just in case any of you were wondering about my progress, i fixed it. I took the whole gun apart, filled my sink up with some nice warm soapy water, and used a brillo pad to clean every part of the gun. I then took the left and right receivers, brought those into the sink and scrubbed those down. When i emptied the sink i noticed a bunch of junk on the bottom. I let that all air dry for like an hour, and when i put it back together i oiled the gun with Gold Cup oil. Got it all together, screwed on a can of co2, cocked it back, and boom, it worked. Thanks for the advice guys.
