to donate blood (platelets specifically) and then go to the gym? i really don't think so, but apparently this girl i know who's a nurse (going to be a 2LT in the army nurse program in may) is doing that...i was hoping at least a nurse, if not an officer would know better...maybe i'm wrong?

The worry about strenous activity after giving blood is mainly the low sugar content in your blood, but as long as she eats and drinks before and after, she should be fine. They take only a small amount ( by body volume) and not anywhere near enough to cause possible hypovelemia.

as long as she doesn't go running for he gym as soon as the needle is pulled out... and eats and what not.

although when you give platelets, doesn't the blood go through a something to pull he platelets out, then the rest go back in? either way, different people react differently so if she thinks she can do it, she probably can |
