The Story:

“Plague of Zombies”

“If you are listening to this recording, it means that I am dead.  I’m not sure how much time I have before they break in here.  I’ve barricaded the lab, but they’re much too strong for it to keep them long.  
“I will tell as much as I can before they get me, and then I will send this file to the Pentagon.  Please make sure that General Keith gets this, it is of the highest priority.
“My name is not important, but please know that I am a doctor and I have been working on this problem for quite some time.  Ten years ago, when the strange illness now called the Sleeping Death struck down old and young and sent them into comas, we had no idea what was causing it.  It didn’t seem as though there was any pattern or reason to it, no viruses detected, no known parasites… these people simply fell asleep and never woke up.  Not, that is, until about six months ago.  
“Even after the subjects awakened science continued to try to explain why they had all fallen ill.  Today it all became clear”
A loud thud is heard in the background along with the shattering of glass and an inhuman hissing sound.
“We have been invaded by aliens.  It sounds foolish to say, but it is true.  Our nitrogen rich atmosphere is toxic to them, so they needed a middle-man to filter it for them.  They invaded the human body as tiny parasites, undetectable by our science.  They use the host body to filter out our atmosphere and then they animate it like a giant puppet or robot.
“The invasion is complete.  They have managed to infiltrate all aspects of our society.  Soldiers, police, doctors, scientists.  No one is safe.  The invaders used young bodies for their foot soldiers because the parasites seem to burn up a human body very quickly once they become active.  The older bodies were reserved for their leadership.  Senator Macdonald, the one who announced a bid for president since he awakened from his coma… I believe that he is one of the leaders.”
Another animal scream followed by the screech of metal across metal.
“General Keith, it is imperative that you take the list that I am forwarding you, the list of those effected by the Sleeping Death, and round them up immediately.  You must do whatever it takes to end this invasion.  Save the world, General, you are the last hope of mankind!”
At the end of the recording there is only a cry from the speaker followed by a growing scream, a loud thud, and the sound of something dripping.  Somehow the speaker managed to hit the “Send” button before he died.
