hi there im having a problem. You see i ordered a tippmann 98 custom. I opened the package in excitement and looked at my new marker it looked awesome. However my new marker was called a Tippmann Rental. I have looked endlessly to see if it is still the same and I can't tell the difference I want the performace of the 98 i ordered. Im not fussed about everythin else just is it the same performance just a different name?

btw

it is an ex site marker so it has been used before please help guys and it isnt a tippmann 98 rental it just says "tippmann rental"

post a picture if you can- I've never seen one like that. Odds are, they're exactly the same though.

They are exactly the same. It just says rental so when fields loan out tippmanns they know what one is there's so they can get it back. I would some how get Rental taken off so you when you go to a field that loans them they dont accuse you of stealing one of there markers.

They are not exactly the same.  Someone else posted a video that covers the difference.  Mainly, it is the lack of a rail on the rental.  Mechanically, performance should be identical.

Edit:

^^^ I think this only applies to the new series of rentals based on the Platinum. The field I go to has the older ones and other than the yellow foregrips and rental nameplate, look identical to any other 98. It sounds like he purchased a used marker from a field clearing some older guns as he mentions it is used. A picture would help clear it up though.

I believe the nameplate can come off.  I'm not entirely sure what holds it on, but a lot of times, a normal hair-dryer can heat up the epoxy just enough to lift it off.

Other than the nameplate, there really isn't a performance difference.  You don't need a fancy rail.
