Hey guys, I'm a new member on this forum, but have been in the sport since 1994. I play only woodsball and love the Mil-Sim look. I currently have a 98C with a M4 kit on it with remote (no true gun upgrades). I want to stay with Tippman just because I've used them for so long and are very durable. I've come down to 3 choices. A 98C w/ACT and Egrip, the new Alpha w/Egrip, or an A5. The A5 is in 3rd only because of price to make it look Mil-Sim (but would consider it if it's worth it) and I already have an M4 Kit to go on any new 98. So really what is better/worth it, the Alpha or a 98? My goal is really just to fire in 3 shot bursts without braking balls. Price is an issue, would like to stay around $200. |

Well the 98c and the Alpha are just about the same gun in different bodies. The alpha has the milsim look you are looking for built right in and the egrip will be released soon, but you will havetime to save for it. The 98c you can get the new Platinum w/ ACT and the Egrip for about 220 at www.actionvillage.com. The A5 is more expensive but has the cyclone feed on it which keeps up with the egrip. That will run about 260. You also want to take into consideration that you already have 98c parts and a barrel so if you want a new one you can always sell your 98, keep the parts, and attach your parts to it. You can also just get the etrigger for your 98. Really your best bet is to go to a proshop and hold them all. then get the one that feels best. Also remember that if you choose the Alpha your barrel will fit it too. The egripped alpha will also only run you 150 and you can put the cyclone on it later or a faster hopper. Is a US Army themed paintball marker an oxymoron? It is like the commercial they put on G4TV to stop playing first person shooters and join the US Army to "Get into the real game." and die and not re-spawn. If you register that maker do they try to recruit you?

you can get on ebay and snag a 98c with ACT and some might even have cyclone feeds already on them for as litle as $65 in some cases, e-triggers are another $100
you just need a little patience and the right one will come along |

I know you can make a really kicking Ak-47 out of an 98c, put a cyclone on it and your golden.

Thanks guys, I think i'm going to wait for the Alpha E-grip and put my barrel on it. I won't need a A5/X7 Cyclone feeder with 3 shot burst will I?

it depends really... if you plan on going 3 shot after 3 shot then you will need something more than a gravity hopper for it. I recommend the cyclone just because it is so reliable. you can also get nice low profile hoppers (like the one on the X7) for the cyclone which is nice in milsim setups.

Does anyone know what needs to be done exactly to fit a 98C Cylcone onto a Alpha? Any drawings or anything? I understand that it takes some changes to the body? Thanks. |
