Hey, I don't know if I put this in the right category if not sry!Ok, my friend is either gonna get a custom98 or an A5, which one shoots farther and more accurate w/flatline, I dont care how they are without flatline all I want to know is how they are with flatline, thanks.

god go the hell away you retart. The A-5 anf 98c shoot just the same. the A-5 will be alot easier to set up and right out off the box you can waste peopel far away with the fast trigger. |

geesh jj. got flames? man be easy on him. he's new. also the only real way to add distance to your gun is to get a flatline. i dont know if that helps or not but i thought id just say it.

well i would think that at a certain distance the paintballs still glide through the air but lose speed and would prolly bounce off the person being aimed at. but i would go with the A-5 although i havent saw it shot but it looks better.

fine fine.. yeah they are the same about. i tested both of them like 2-3 weeks ago and they didnt have really a big difference, only that the A-5 flatline looks nicer and is 500% easier to clean and the look of the 98c flatline looks goofy. gl and sorry for calling you a retart |

Hey jjclown if your goign to flame, atlest spell it right.
The only thing that will add distance to your tippmann would be adding a flatline onto it. The a5 and the 98c with the flatline shoot about the same. If you want more information about the flatline, i suggest you search. |

Range should be about the same on both but the A5 flatline is designed better. Installation of the 98 flatline is where many people have problems and get frustrated. If you don't have it lined up perfectly when you install it then your shots will hook like crazy and it's very easy to install it wrong from what I hear. A lot of people needed help getting it to shoot straight because of this and many stopped using it eventually because of that. One of my friends got the flatline a while ago and it was such a pain that he stopped using it. He replaced it with a bigshot that I got him for his birthday and never looked back. Based on his experience I stayed away from the flatline and didn't intend to buy one on my A5 when it came out but I changed my mind when I talked to a few flatline owners and saw them in action. The extra range and flat trajectory were awesome features that helped greatly at D-day and I found myself wishing I had one. Whenever we had a guy with a flatline we were able to hold the enemy off more easily because they could reach from farther out and the low branches didn't cause a problem for them. I determined from this that I could benefit from those features and then I got one for christmas that year. The range I got when I tested it for the first time made my jaw drop and the accuracy wasn't too bad. On top of that, it was very simple to install. The 98 flatline required you to mess with a bunch of different pieces and left a lot of room for you to screw up. The A5 flatline is so easy to install that you'd have to be an idiot to mess it up. All you do is loosen a few screws, twist and pull the threads out, push and twist in the flatline, and then tighten the screws again. To align it you just have to line up the head of the screw on the top of the shroud with the front site and you're done. If it's off a little, loosen the screws and twist the barrel a little. It's very simple. The flatline is much better for the A5 in terms of design and installation but both should perform about the same. I think the same could be said about the guns themselves as well. The A5 will perform just as well as the 98c but is easier to install things on and to modify because it's designed differently. I've had both for years and I personally find the design of the A5 to be far superior. The cyclone's design is questionable though. Mine has always worked great but others have had major problems. The mechanism is simple and it works very well but the problem is that the ratchet is made of some kind of hard rubber which tends to wear down too quick. Had they used a better material I think the cyclone would've been much better. However, I can't tell you my cyclone ever malfunctioned on me until the ratchet wore down nearly 2 years after I bought it. I should also mention that I didn't get the second update for the cyclone, which includes a new ratchet, until my old ratchet wore out. Tippmann may have fixed the problem with this new ratchet but I'm not sure. Anyway, I own the 98c and A5 along with many upgrades so if you have questions about these guns or their upgrades feel free to PM me. |

i'd say the a-5 would be a better buy because it has a higher ROF out of the box and it is much easier to install the flatline on the a-5. |
