So I sold my TES & 98C and used the money to purchase a VSC Phantom and some goodies for my A5. What do you guys think? VSC Phantom with one piece feed tube from White Wolf Airsmithing ![]() Closeup of the feed tube.. ![]() And lastly, my A5 nearing completion. ![]() So far I've played with the Phantom once and I really like it. Can't remember the last time I played all day on less than 500 rounds. Only complaint I have is the lack of stock ball detents. It's a bit frustrating spending 15 minutes sneaking up and finding a shooting lane only to dry fire because the ball you had chambered rolled out. It is definately challenging way to play but it's damn fun honing my ninja skills. |

Nice Phantom. The last pump I played with a pump was my
old Tallon. Apart from being my first few games of paintball, those are not great memories. I've always wanted to play with a real pump though. The A-5 is nice also. What kind of barrel is that? Can't quite tell from the pic. Isn't that drop kind of uncomfortable thgough? Looks like it would be. The hopper looks nice also. |

Looks like a 14-16" Stiffi Barrel. Made almost entirely out of carbon fiber. Practically as light as an oversized drinking straw. And that type of drop foward is designed for keeping your gun compact. It's different, but still comfortable once you get used to it. I like the Ricochet R-5 hopper. It just looks cool. LPK is good. That trigger looks REALLY comfy (not quite a blade because of the "m" curve that fits your fingers nicely, but close enough to still look good). It also looks like you've painted the recievers gloss-black which also looks really good. And I'll bet the RVA comes in handy too. A5 10/10.
The Phantom is anodized "acid green", which looks pretty cool. The clear pump handle doesn't really go with the color scheme though. He's also using a 1 piece stock feed, which is made by white wolf airsmiths, that's really cool. Phantom 9/10 because of clear pump handle. About your ball detent issue. Mike Casady (owner/founder of CCI) came out with ring detents for the Phantom about...a year and a half ago (give or take). I use em on mine, they work really well. You should look into it. |

That feedtube is pretty cool. I don't know if they all have that quick fill type of rubber blocker on the end, but it's a good idea IMO. |

Get rid of the nasty FBM stiletto drop-I find them incredibly uncomfortable, although I guess you don't seeing how you're using it. Also, they're mad ugly.
Nice Phantom man, one of the best I've ever seen. The feed tube is a really nice design. Shoulda got him to stick in detents while he made the feed tube. |

I like the a5, but i personally wouldnt put a 80 dollar barrel on an a 250(?) dollar gun. Also, i hate the look of the LPK, but thats not your fault, so it doesnt detract from my rating. The drop looks alright, ive never used one though. 9/10
The phantom is great. May i ask why you got the new feedgate though? is it just for looks or what? 9.5/10 |

The barrel is a 14" Stiffi. Weighs in at an incredible 53 grams and because it's carbon fiber it will not fluctuate with the temperature or humidity. Pretty quiet as well. You'd be suprised how comfortable the Stiletto is actually. It lifts the tank up into your shoulder making it perfect for shouldering while allowing you to stay tighter to your bunker. I have a rather large tank (92ci) that makes it very akward and back heavy without the drop forward so it works perfectly for me.
Actually that's not a paint job but just a fresh coat of oil I wiped on there to keep it looking mint. Yeah I read about the ring detents on the PHOG but I find it ridiculous that after spending as much as I did on it they couldn't throw in three small rubber rings.. ($6 for three O rings?!)
Actually my team placed a group order for a bunch of Stiffi's from Site Mfg. and we got them at cost so I got a damn good deal on it. I know what you mean though I sometimes wonder if spending two times what I spent on the gun in upgrades was a very smart idea. No matter how many upgrades you buy for an A5 it is still an A5 after all. Just a fancy one. ![]() About the one piece feed tube.. It is mostly for looks, but since it is all one piece of aluminum it is much sturdier than the stock feed tube. It also has those cool little slots on the side so that you can check how many balls you have left.
LOL Refer to my first comment.. |
