Hi all,
i'm a complete newbie and i'm just about to buy myself my very first gun! A friend of mine bought the a5 and is very please, and unless you guys all yell no i'm going with one of those as well. I'm looking at the tippmann a5 powerpack http://www.doropaintball.com/AB1038101EQuick/shopexd.asp?id= 5734 which to me looks rather nice, and it will probably be one of those... Well, basically my question are if there is something else i should get, besides the power pack, that would improve my game. An additional barrel (the flatline perhaps)? A bigger tank? Something else? I have about $400 or so to spend, so what do you guys think would be the best for me? I'm playing woodsball btw :) Thanks |

Well I wouldn't buy a preset pack of things. I did when I started
and I don't use most of the stuff anymore, besides the mask which was a
high quality thermal lense goggle. To improve your game:
-A cheap HPA tank (see my sig for the one I use, its pretty good but you need a bunch of fills. Believe me though, the preformance increase is worth the $80). -A barrel of course, flatline only if you dont fire that much and prefer sniping. You might want to play a game with your stock barrel and see your play style... if you're a fast player get something 12-16" from J&J or Smart Parts. Everything else is basically for your own comfort: -Drop forward, if you'd like. -Stock... I recommend getting a drop if your stock is collapsable as its uncomfortable to use the stock in the collapsed position. -Different front and rear grips if you'd like. -A remote line, to eliminate the tank wieght altogether. Make sure you get a harness that acomidates the tank then. And non-gun stuff: -Invest in a Thermal (double layered) lense mask. -Get a bottle of anti-fog... believe me you're gonna want to clean those goggles off, and everyone else is gonna want to borrow it from you. -Gun oil -A good squeegee. -A nice comfortable harness, or a 2-tube pouch: nothing too restrictive or heavy, you'll still want to move even in the woods. I use 100 round tubes in individual packs to save paint. -A pair of PB pants, they're usually pretty comfortable and skid-proof, and you dont need to worry about ruining them. I use Smart Parts Rase Chigo Skid-Knees. I think thats about it. |

I would say buy the Flatline or LAPCO Bighsot. Later on, buy an egrip and JCS trigger.

Hi and welcome to Tippmann. I wouln't go totally nuts right away. I would get an A-5 with RT trigger. Whether thats a power pack is up to you. Power pack masks are usually pretty cheap and always get upgraded later, but its nice to have some old backup equip. for you or a friend to use if needed. Alot of the people we play with don't get rentals they play on our backup stuff. The rest, if you get a power pack can wait till you play a while and decide what you need and want. A barrel would probably be the first thing when you start upgrading. A 20oz Co2 tank, spare tank o-rings, a good squeegee (who decided this is how it's spelled. English is weird.) pack and pods, more gun oil, ect...

The A5 is a fabulous gun. Combine that with a flatline and it's excellent for woodsball (woodsball is all I play). Not only does it add a lot of distance but he backspin causes a flat trajectory that is great for woodsplay, mainly in the brush. Go with an A5, Flatline and 20 0z tank. Then upgrade to egrip and other custom stuff later.
