what if instead of having the spring befind the bolt it was located twards the front of the gun? and then the gun's length could be cut in half, possibly to the size of a pistol.

Interesting. It'd probably cause some big wear and tear on the bolt, and any problems with the rear bolt being pulled instead of pushed.. like it not being strong enough to hit the CVX valve enough to get blowback.

Try it and see. I bet there's a glaringly obvious reason why Tippmann didn't do this, but more power to you if you get it working.

Okay, I don't have a clever signature zinger. So sue me.

Where would the sear be?

But why would you do all that if you could just shorten the valve.

And where did the rear bolt go?

It like, does not exist now, or something...

^^^Exactally. There's no way to open up the valve to let the air out, you can't fire the gun like that.

look closely there is a rear bolt.

i think the reason tippmann didn't use this design is because the rear bolt would bind since the bolt is being pulled by the linkage arm on the circumference rather than being pushed from the center. mabe if you had 3 linkage arms at 120 degrees apart the rear bolt wouldn't bind.

As for the sear, it would probably have to latch on to the front bolt or something.

Very good idea, I would've never thought of that.

there is no rear bolt, the outside ouf the gun is attached to the bolt in the front. the bolt in the front is also hevier, made of meatl, and the linkage arm is replaced by a metal peg that attaches the bolt to the top half of the gun. when fires the top half is blown back lika a normal pistol there are some minor flaws but it's an idea not a plan
