Time Bandits (24hr game)
by Spiro Mamaligas
LOCATION: Smithfield, Ohio
DATE: November 7th-9th

1958, CAIRO, EGYPT . . .while on an archeological dig in the desert, Dr. Gary Talbot and his assistant, John Landin come across a rare find.

At first discovery it seems as if it’s made of stone. Perhaps it’s the top of an undiscovered pyramid?
They begin to investigate further as the excitement of their find begins to sweep the camp.
For days people scurry around uncovering more and more of the find.

What they originally thought to be the beginning of a pyramid is looking more and more like some sort of ancient statue or mausoleum.

ISRAEL, 1965 . . .the art exhibit has closed down for the day.

All of the visitors have been ushered out the door as the security guards begin their daily, monotonous chores. Tonight, however, is not so monotonous.

In the Egyptian Room, down the hall from where the guard’s desk is located, a faint glow of light starts to spread across the floor.

The light begins to change colors, varying from bright to dark. A mist begins to form around the display located in the center of the room.

It is labeled “Ark of the Immortals”, a huge piece of fine craftsmanship that at first glance appears to be made of stone.

At closer examination, though, it is evident that this pendulum of carvings is made of some type of metal alloy that, over the years, has taken on the appearance of stone.

Shadows begin to form . . .

ISRAEL, 1959 . . .Dr. Talbot is standing at the shipping port in the sweltering summer heat waiting impatiently for the tanker to arrive.

For weeks he has waited to receive his precious find. Millions of dollars have been spent by him and his team to uncover, research and deliver this find to him.

His investors are growing impatient as well waiting for the answers that have been promised to them by the good doctor.

If anything happens to this find he is finished. Dr. Talbot looks again at his watch wondering why the tanker is late.

Pittsburgh, PA, 2008 . . .the “Star of the Sea” has docked to port and is unloading its cargo.

On the dock, a lone limousine waits as the passenger in the rear rolls down his window to watch the cargo being unloaded.

The driver glances in the rearview mirror. “Sir, the item should be ready for transport within the hour. Should we wait for it?” “No, let’s just go to the lab.

They can meet us there,” answers the passenger. “I’m sure it will be safe. Besides, we have a lot to prepare for.”

The limo begins to pull away as the passenger takes one last look at the cargo being unloaded and rolls up his window.

The sun slowly begins its decent upon the horizon as a tractor-trailer waits for its cargo to be securely strapped down for departure.

What was found in Egypt in 1958?

What happened in the art museum in Israel in 1965?

Did Dr. Talbot ever receive his cargo that he was so impatiently waiting for?

Who is the man in the limousine?

What is being unloaded from the “Star of the Sea”?

Where is the tractor-trailer heading?
