In refurbishing my old 68 Special I had an inspiration. I am into black powder shooting and barrel cleanliness and lubrication is critical. I tried cleaning my 20in Special barrel with X-7 Black Powder barrel cleaner and the gloss of the barrel bore is beyond belief. I then applied a coat of black powder lubricant 'Bore Butter' a organic (beeswax) lubricant to the bore and not a break in a cheap case of walmart paint that went through it. Intentionally broke a ball in bore, pulled squeegie through with a cotton ball with a light coat of 'bore butter' in front of last rubber disc, clean wipe with one pull.
A cheap fix without the pricey 'paintball' speciality fixes. |
