my kids are new to paintball and i just purchased them 2 tippmann 98 customs off ebay to get them started. 1 of the guns came with a r/t and a cyclone hooper installed but the air line where it hooks to the gun is not hooked up. there is a plug there that looks like it is non removable. the fitting for the r/t is there and the reg is hooked up to that, but the t fitting is missing the banjo bolt and i do not see a way to remove that plug, there is no screwdriver slot or allen hole to remove it. any insight would be appreciated. the other gun has a removable plug there.

https://www.tippmannparts.com/Tippmann-Adapter-Cyclone-Feed-Response-Kit-98-p/2759.htm You may need this if you find that you are missing some parts. I know you need something to use both a cyclone and an response trigger on the same gun. It's possible that maybe he broke the plug screwdriver slot as well because if it's the one I'm thinking of it should have a screwdriver slot on the plug. If it looks like it was broken I guess try needle nose pliers to get it out, or you could take the gun apart and then see if you can get at it.

Or it could be that the powertube doesn't have the predrilled hole for the fittings, but you said the response trigger was hooked up? If so then you just need the t fitting and thhe stuff from the previous post I would think, but if you take it apart and find that the plug cannot be removed you may need a different power tube. This is just a quote from the website: Double check your power tube has a slot head plug that can be removed from the exhaust port. If you have an 98 Custom, pre 1022801 serial number, or Custom Pro, pre 0015601 serial number, or other Platinum or US Army gun with no TA05021 power tube plug, you will have to drill your power tube port (#21), or order the pre-drilled version: https://www.tippmannparts.com/98-21NR-Tippmann-POWER-TUBE-PLASTIC-p/3935.htm

Can you snap a picture of the plug you're talking about? It could be that there's a basic power-tube installed rather than the correct RT/Cyclone tube that should be used in that configuration.
The basic tube has a black plastic nub that sticks out through the hole in the right side of the marker body, sounds like that might be what you're looking at? |
