I binge watched season two over the weekend with my wife. Anyone else watch it?

Yep, no spoilers here either please. We're about 5 episodes in and it's really getting good.

Quote The 80's seem so grand

They kind of were. It was all about "Me" in that decade. There was an explosion of wealth with opportunities for rapid advancement for the boomers and early Gen-X folks as the "Greatest Generation" retired and deregulation kicked in. Everyone wanted a piece of the pie and would gladly screw over their neighbor to get it. Add in the rapid advancements in technology, lowered costs for consumer products, and the straight-up bacchanalian atmosphere of the decade and they were definitely heady times.

Growing up then was pretty awesome. We actually did a lot of the kids in the show do. Riding bikes EVERYWHERE without having a real curfew or electronic leash for our parents to keep an eye on us. We spent more time out of the house exploring the woods and old abandoned places (factories, rail yards, mines) than we did inside. And when we were inside, it was a night to play D&D or challenge each other at video games. Arcades were the shiznit by the way. None of this Dave & Buster's "ticket games" crap. Just row after row of stand-up cabinets with great games and a jukebox in the corner blaring out the latest hits. My dad called bingo for my sister's elementary school at the mall food court on Wednesday nights, so he'd take us down with him, give us each $15 for food and to either spend on quarters at the arcade or at the record store and cut us loose until he was done. I played the hell out of Qbert, Crystal Castles, Rampage, Dig-Dug, and Road Blasters. Things were a hell of a lot simpler back then and I wouldn't trade childhood then for the 90s or later by any stretch of the imagination.

Shoot, at this point they might as well re-name Hawkins to LV-426 the way Paul Reiser is getting people killed left and right....

Stranger Things: Remember Thing?

Nostalgia is cheaper than wit, and their writing budget must have been low.

I'm saying it sucks and is purely a cynical play on your imagined fond memories of cultural referents :)

I wouldn't say that nostalgia is the only thing that makes the show decent.

It's not so much nostalgia for me. I think it's a great show. This season topped the last one as far as making you care about the characters. The kid who plays Will deserves a damned Oscar for his performance BTW.

It'll be interesting to see what happens to Eight as they've left that WIDE open, though they only have two seasons or so to wrap it up as they've said they only want it to go about 4 to prevent it from dying a slow death down the road.

I'd like for them to get out before dying a slow death. I think greed made Sons of Anarchy, The Walking Dead, and Dexter overstay their welcome.

We just started the series this past week, and we're already into season 2.  I like it.  I don't think I would like it as much if it wasn't for the nostalgic factor.

I had fun with the first season. The plot was good. I got a little bored of the amount of times the show felt the need to harp on the 1980s setting. Just tell me a story, you don't need to wrap it in literally every 80s trope ever.

I watched the first episode of the second season and it seemed OK. I'll probably keep going.

I watched it all, as a kid from the 80's they nailed lots of it. Only major issue I had was they used MODERN retro bikes.... Seriously, with all the BMX collectors out there, they could have easily gotten some diamond backs and other era correct bikes. The small sprockets about killed me in the biking scenes as those didn't come to BMX until the mid 90's...

haha! Problem with being a bmx pro from the 80's.

They tremble at my name...
