How to disassemble the 98 custom.

hi new member here,

I have a 98 custom, and i want to add a response trigger to it, but i'd rather save the money and do it myself.

Could someone help me and walk me through it, any feedback given is extremley appreciated.

Or compressed gas of whatever kind.  We played this weekend with compressed air (special tank required but no other mods) and it worked same as CO2 except NO FREEZING. Excellent. Also easy to take a small group out for woodsball as you can take an old set of scuba tanks with you and fill the tanks in the woods. We are new, but learning as we go.

Hey, I got the same problem as axio, I haven't been able to figure it out yet.
I think we both have the ACT, or anti-chop-technology, models. They have two extra springs and two extra matal parts. I was able to put the spring from the regular 98 custom back in, but this one stops me from cocking it all the way. I would appreciate it if someone could help me out.
In the worst case scenario I could return it and say it jammed on me.


Please Help Me

Okay, i took apart my gun last night and everything went fine. The only thing I wasn't sure about was the endcap did not fit in nice and snug. It came out of the back of the gun just a little bit. So, I took it apart again and looked to see if the cap was fitting in the threads right, and it was. I do not think this will pose a problem, but has anybody else had this happen to them? Thanks

how often should you take the 98C apart and do a thorough cleaning?

When I was putting mine back in I started to tighten up one of the screws and just the top of the thread like in the one like just fell out, I didn't use pressure or anything when putting it in. Now I have to push the one screw in a tiny bit for it to catch but it still tightens up just fine so I think im ok.

The other day I was taking mine apart, missed the part in the manual about turning the velocity screw all the way in.
 
The gun won't fire now, what could be a solution for this problem?  Does it have to do with me removing the screw?

The reason for threading the screw all the way in, I can only imagine, is so when you remove the receiver halves, it does not damage the valve threads, in the power tube. Aluminum is a very soft metal. Especially so, in these guns.

As for "the gun won't fire now" i'd recommend describing the symptoms a bit more... do you have air leakage? Will the bolt react, but the paint not project? Details are key here...

Hi, I have a tippmann 98 platinum, and I can't figure out how to take apart the front sight (where you push down on it to release the hopper).  It got hit with some paint, so I need to clean inside there, but unlike the normal 98, it's locked in place and I can't pull the pin out.  I tried with pliers and the pin wouldn't budge.  What's the trick to it?  The manual wouldn't say.

hey i have a question i have the 98 custom ultra basic ..... i dissasembled and re-assembled it but the back reciever half will not go on correctly .... but when i oppend it up the sear is popped up  so i took it out and replaced it still would not close ... after hours i just left the sear spring out and closed it back up  if you could help that would be great

I was going to add this and this looks like the perfect place. Check your sear pin I dissembled mine to remove the safety  I'm left handed and kept engaging the safety on the field NOT GOOD. When attempting to reassemble I noticed some resistance. I saw the sear pin was bent after unsuccessfully trying to bang it straight 1) its hardened 2) its small 3) it goes flying when struck. I ordered a new one $1
