not sure bro i wanan say a tippmann 98 custom but if your playing in a terny you might wanan look at some other options. I know tippmanns are good if you upgrade them (and are good even if you dont)but im not sure about just playin in stock. But then again the gun doesnt make the player.

The 98C sells for roughly  $130.00 , great , durable reliable gun , the barrel is Kinda Sux outta the box , but it will work for you , hardly any markers come with a really good barrel .

Have fun at your tourney !! and welcome to the forum and the sport !!

For under  $200 bucks , you get a good semi-auto marker , and the upgrades out there , are limited only by your pocketbook , for now that gives you roughly $60.00 to upgrade with , get a J&J or other good barrel , You'll be set .

Dont forget to get a good mask !!

The J&J ceramic is okay , the bigshot is okay , Search for some threads with links to Paintball suppliers , for prices , but those barrels , I havent heard much but good comments about , and they are reasnonably priced .

Hey, you can get a Tippmann 98 custom for probably around $190.00 without all of the accesories.

I would say the 98c. But if you have not played before are you sure you are going to like it? If you buy a gun and then play once and find out you do not like it, you will lose money because you will not be able to sell it nearly as close as you payed for it. Go out with your friend and rent a gun and play for the day and make sure you like the sport before you start throwing money at it.

A good barrel I could think of a tippmann 9c is the JnJ Ceramic 14in. Friend has one of them and has never broken a ball or had problems. And Druken is right, you should go out to rent a gun and see if you like it at all, then you can start making choices on a gun.

Silver Bullet
14in Whisper barrel
12v Revy
Psychoballistic Drop foward
20oz CO2
