Imagine how innaccurate you would aim with that... And, Say good bye to snap shooting anything.

If it were voice-controlled, and you could hold another gun in your hands, then it would be a little bit better...

That's a dirt-simple Radio Shack fix. Presumably it's an electronic trigger anyway, so simply get a pressure switch, run a wire from it to the trigger circuitry, splice it in so that the pressure switch is your trigger. Set it on automatice with your desired ROF, then set the pressure switch on your hand-held markerin whatever place is most convenient. Hell, you could oeprate four amrkers this way if you so chose. Setting up that remote air line would be fun, though- I'd figure two HPA tanks each feeding two markers off remotes. Fun.

The thought of that tickles me.

Looks moronic to me.

So you got someone shooting two head mounted markers....you run away initially, but when you realize that he cant actually HIT anything, he'd be easier to shoot out than the fat n00b camper with the talon. Your effective range of motion is now limited, and you can only shoot where your shoulders are pointed. The last time I checked, you don't have practical 180* motion with your torso It'd be the simplest thing in world to double team.

i say its a waste of effort to even create, other than the shock value its got on newbies. If I saw that on a field, I'd probably giggle, and hope he wasnt put on my team.....

Course, all you'd need to do really is wait for him to have to reload.

I personally give it an F+

Thank you for reducing Paintball to the same intelletual level as playing Counter-Strike. I commend you on shooting our sport in the foot. Personally, I find a skilled pump player far more intimindating that any idiot who can walk a trigger and spray ropes of paint. I can't help but laugh at people who cry because some 'camper' shot them out, either due to luck, or the blindness or tactical idiocy of the target. I'd suggest that anyone who doens't like people who sit in one spot and wait for a shot to make up for a handicap in terms of euipment ought to look up the miltiary concept fo a 'defensive position', that is, somewhere you sit and shoot at anyone stupid enough to try to attack you without proper tactical coorudiantion and support.

Thank you for reducing Paintball to the same intelletual level as playing Counter-Strike. Im merely using terminology that the vast majority of people reading this would relate to. I commend you on shooting our sport in the foot. Explain how I did that. Personally, I find a skilled pump player far more intimindating that any idiot who can walk a trigger and spray ropes of paint. So do I. But they're few and far between. Expecially if they're "New" which one of the words I used was pseudo for. I can't help but laugh at people who cry because some 'camper' shot them out, either due to luck, or the blindness or tactical idiocy of the target. Its usually luck. Campers are usually left to pick ants off their hoppers while the rest of the players are moving around and actually PLAYING...but whatever. I'd suggest that anyone who doens't like people who sit in one spot and wait for a shot to make up for a handicap in terms of euipment ought to look up the miltiary concept fo a 'defensive position', We aren't in the military chief, I hate to break it to you. Welcome to the 'sport' of paintball. that is, somewhere you sit and shoot at anyone stupid enough to try to attack you without proper tactical coorudiantion  and support. Defensive positions don't always work. I give you: Normandy (1944), I give you Cold Harbor (1864) I give you Vicksburg (1863) I give you Iwo Jima (1945) The list could go on. Defensive positions ESPECIALLY won't work if there's one person hiding under a bush and facing two or three players utilizing 'fire and maneuver' tactics.

My movement trumps your camping, as per usual. Unless you're half a mile away and trained to place a rifle round upside my head....Are you?

I would like to commend YOU for having all the sense of humor of a freshly neutered beagle.

It's not a sense of humour, it's a sense of respect. I have respect for all styles of play. And I'll point out that those defensive positions you listed were mostly taken using extreme fire support and overwhelming numbers, which are in no way analogous to painball. I've seen new kids who were smart enough to know in a woodsball game theat if they wait in a static location for the first half of a game they'll get a good couple of shots on the players who aren't careful enough, and blunder into their position. After that they get out moving. But to blindly condemn new players for staying in one spot.

No kidding this isn't the military, but the tactics and principles are the same. Besides, anyone who knows what they're doing won't be solitary in a defensive position. Several locaitons with interlocking arcs of fire and good players behind the trigger will do the job. I've personally breached and eliminated defenses that didn't do this properly, and conversely have been totally held off by them because their lanes of fire were clear. On the defense I've dominated a good part of the field with a couple of buddies and successfully held off the atatck so we could then move up and take out what was left, adn I've been taken out msyelf when uddy didn't do a good job watching his back. But when everyone does their job properly in paintball a good solid defense will nine times out of ten trump a good offense. If a enw kid wants to try the defensive thing until he's been shot a few times and knows how it feels, I won't begrudge him that. To rip on people because they have talons is purely condescending to the players who can't afford much else. or whoa ren't big into the sport yet, and such an opinion frankly ought to be beneath you- I've always had respect for you here, but that kind of sentiment is just juvenile.

For that matter, I've seen oen scared kid hiding under the right bush do a real good number on an opposing team under the right circumstances. I give the 'hdie under bush' tactic about 50/50 odds for picking up a couple eliminations in most circumstances. If the kid relocates after a couple shots, so much the better for him.

And to match your sarcasm, no, I'm not trained to place a rifle round in your head at 800m. My service rifle only fires 5.56, and thus is only effective in the hands of a good shot (which I consider myself) out to about 500m or so. And we're trained to always aim center of visible mass, which is generally the torso. I'd suggest that were you and some friends to come out against me and a few of my trained buddies on an even field we'd show you a defense that your fire and manoever would be VERY hard pressed to trump.

And does that defense involve sitting behind a tree in the back of the field, picking ants off your hopper and hoping that the enemy never gets close to you?

No?  Then it bears no relation to the very real analogy that Reb was trying to make in a humerous fashion.  Neutered Beagle indeed.

I've yet to see a newbie sit in the back of the field 'picking ants off his hopper'. I've found newbies to be among the most gung-ho players. They might duck behind cover and stay there cowering for a minute after they take fire, but once they realize they can shoot back they're generally pretty aggressive. I can't say I've ever seen some new player behave the way Reb is portraying.

The original comment was 'he'd be easier to shoot out than the fat noob camper with the talon'. My problem with his post was with the contempt he showed for new players and for people who can't encessarily afford quality gear. If that's how your moderators at this site elect to present themselves to new and experienced players alike, I can't say I'm particularly bothered to be subject to their disregard. If you knew me at all you'd find I have quite the sense of humor- but it doesn't extend to finding disrespect for kids trying to get into the sport funny.

Reb was making a joke.  The Talon-wielding "sniper" n00b is a particular archetype of beginner that many of us see frequently.  They are generally harmless and, frankly, funny.  Eventually they grow out of their n00bness.

Reb was not necessarily mocking those beginners - he was using them as a humerous reference point to make a joke.  He was mocking neither beginners or inexpensive paintball gear.  He was using a popular archetype from paintball lore as a humerous analogy.

Reading any ill will into Reb's joke is simply incorrect.  You need to reset your internet humor detector.
