I had the exact same problem on my 98C. Someone else on this forum had the same problem, too. (Do a search). Neither of us were able to remedy the problem other than switching back to CO2 Please let us know if you get this figured out. Like I said, two of us have had the exact same problem and could not get it to work, although tons of others have had no problem. BTW, my HPA tankS are both Crossfire HP output tanks. They both gave the exact same problem with the exact same 260fps max. |

I talked to Tippman today, they said that I needed to get the HPA up to
850-900. I think I'll just use CO2, and not worry about it.
I will use HPA on my Ion. Thanks for all the help guys.
Good luck

Interesting...They didn't tell me that. I wonder how you find a tank with that kind of output. Crossfire states that theres are regulated between 700-815psi. I guess you'd have to get an adjustable reg. Oh well, thanks a billion for the info....

Yeah, you would have to get a Adjustable Tank.
spudcrazy, what type of RVA do you have? Alot of RVA's only move the spring out, relieving the spring pressure on the hammer. I would suggest trying the red(heavy) Maddmann Spring without the RVA, and see if that makes a difference. Edited by Snake6 - 23 February 2006 at 10:14am |

Snake6, I have a DOP RVA (see sig). I actually made a spacer to further compress the spring. And I did put in the RED Maddmann Spring w/ and w/o the RVA, to no avail. I tried every possible combo before giving up in frustration. I even broke down and brought it to the local PB shop (which I'm convinced knows very little) and even they said they didn't have a clue. However, they only came up with one or two things to try (which were the obvious). I have no faith in both of our local PB shops, even though one is the big chain store (**V's). But thanks for suggesting some ideas.
BTW, don't forget to look for us at Narnia. We'll be in a travel trailer at the camping lot. We are the Old Man Militia. We may or may not have a banner, but we should be right next to DeadByDawn. |

Your valve spring may be a bit to strong( out of tolerance) I believe you stated in a responding post that the marker is new. Run this by Tippmann and ask for a new spring. There is allot of physics going on to blow the ball out of the barrel and they all intermingle. Why Co2 and not air, air is constant CO2 is expanding into a gas through the entire cycle and unless it is cold out is always going to build up enough pressure to get the marker to shoot well. Spudcrazy, look at your vertical adapter where it screws into the valve you might have one that the tube extends into the 90 and causes a narrow spot , you may have to drill it out. I had this problem , drilling curred it. |

I heard somebody at my field had this problem...they were using co2 and now they are using hpa, they had to run a case of paint through it to break it in i guess..
