Took my MSF course a few weeks ago. Picked up an 2003 Honda xr650l. Needs a little work ( oil, chain, brakes etc) Has lots of upgrades, and i can flat foot it which is nice. Now all I gotta buy is a riding suit and boots and then I'll feel safe/er to ride.

The XR650L is a tank, damn near bulletproof motor, smooth road ride, little heavy in dirt, but tolerable. I was going to turn mine into an 'Adventure Bike', saddle bags, touring windscreen, fat arse seat. But went with Can-Am. Would suggest the rear suspension lowering link to knock 2in of seat height, unless you are over 6ft 2in. And run 91 in it, tends to bang if cheaper gas used and a capful of good quality 2 stroke racing oil per tankfill for top end lubrication.

Already has a lowering link and shaved seat. Seeing that I'm 6'2, i can flat foot it with my feet near the front wheel haha. Think i would have knocking issues running 87 at 6,000+ ft?

Above 5000ft will need rejetting, and 87 at any altitude in 650motor will be a knocker. Try not to run any ethanol in it.

I am jealous. I've been eyeing up Iron head Sportsters but now is not the best time for me

Be careful.  When the weather was nicer a week ago, was seeing some bikes on the road from the winter cabin fever crowd.  Also seeing pictures of bikes from friends on FB.  Made me wi**edited**l.

*Why is **w i s t f u l** a bad word?
