I notice that as I fire my 98c with the RT, that ice crystals show up around the bolt. I thought it was chipping paint at first, but they melt right away. Is this a sign of a leak? If so what is the proper way to test for leaks with the gun disassembled?

Its just your CO2 that hasnt completly expanded from liquid in the tank to gas form. Its completly normal, and isnt hurting your marker. An expansion chamber will eleviate this problem

To test for leaks, just fill a spray bottle with soapy water and spray it onto any joints to check for leaks. Also, an anti-siphon would help a lot.

This is the answer you're looking for, and probably the cheapest "fix" if it bothers you that badly. The worst thing that can happen to your marker under normal firing conditions is a frozen(and then busted) O-ring.
