so clear is basicly for polished metals to stay polished longer (kinda like a clear coat?) and cant polish metals that have been ano'd (duh lol).

You can clean up polished ano, but basically its to protect the metal (aluminum-oxide is hard than aluminum) and protect the finish.

For the "white" look, its usually better to do clear on a beadblast surface.
